Trying this place was the best decision I made in Santorini! Andrea, Nicola, and Maria are all amazing cooks and the ingredients here are so fresh and authentic. Every single dish we tried — and we tried half of them — was spot on. We tried the Giant Beans, Wrapped Wine Leaves, Bouyourdi, Pesto Salad, Chickpea Salad, Orange Pie, and Milk Pie, and would eat them all over again. Who knew healthy foods could taste this good?
Andrea was very accommodating to me not wanting cheese in my dishes (yes I’m crazy to not want cheese in Greece). The menu didn’t have any descriptions, but Andrea was happy to answer any questions. I suggest you do too since they may be different from what you’d expect if you’re not familiar with Greek culture. They’re traditional Greek dishes with unassuming names but completely magical.
I could write a whole dissertation on why you should visit here, from the design details to the authentic foods to the hosts. We didn’t even bother to try other places and kept coming back during our three-day stay in Santorini and we have no regrets! This place is the reason we’d love to return to...
Read moreVothonaki is, without a doubt, one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Greece. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and genuine hospitality by the wonderful owners, Nico and Andreas. Their passion for what they do shines through every detail – from the exquisite food to the impeccable service.
The authenticity and excellence of the Greek cuisine here is truly outstanding. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor, prepared with love, and true to its roots. You can feel the care and dedication in every bite. It’s not just a meal, it’s a celebration of Greek culinary tradition.
The setting is absolutely beautiful. The terrace, in particular, is a dreamy spot – peaceful, charming, and full of character. It’s the kind of place where you want to stay for hours, soaking in the atmosphere and enjoying the company of good food and kind people.
A huge thank you to Nico and Andreas for creating such a special place. Vothonaki is a rare find – authentic, welcoming, and truly unforgettable. We can’t...
Read moreI had high hopes for this restaurant but we were unfortunately disappointed. The restaurant is in a lovely village not far from Mesaria, where we were staying. I highly recommend you make a reservation and ask for outdoor seating. We were told on the phone that we’d be seated inside, so we already knew we wouldn’t be on the quaint and lively terasse. Sadly, it was so hot indoors and the stools were uncomfortable, it wasn’t pleasant at all.
The person attending to us was not friendly and did not explain the menu. We might have made poor choices from the menu but the lamb was overcooked and dry and the rest of our meal was unremarkable.
If I had seen the rude replies from the owner to negative reviews on here, I would’ve skipped this place. It’s overrated, does not reflect Greek hospitality and you have better options...
