Ta Kavourakia — Restaurant in Municipality of Thira

While on our excursion we booked through our cruise, the MSC Opera, it included some beach time across the street of Ta Kavourakia. Little did we know that the restaurant was actually servicing cruise ship and other tourists to the beach, directing people to where they could lounge of sun beds/beach beds.

On the beach we ordered 2 Freddo-cappacinos, and 2 different dishes of feta cheese. One with honey and other olive oil and oregano.

After a certain amount of time, we were welcomed into the restaurant, which was basically like an open-aired layout and were seated amongst the other guests from our cruise ship that were on the same excursion.

They first laid out tzatziki, hummus, Greek salad, bread, and dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) all for the table to share amongst ourselves. Just when our bellies were full they brought out pork (or maybe chicken) and French fries, with watermelon as a dessert.

This is an absolutely delightful traditional Greek restaurant nestled on the edge of the sea but in a more quiet and desirable location than the main strip. We saw Greek families eating there and the menu was lovely so we gladly entered. We visited twice because the food and service was faultless. We had mussels, beef stew, saganaki and souvlaki and all dishes were superb. Absolutely wonderful experience here.

Food was amazing (and reasonably priced), the staff then let us use the beach cabanas and provided towels.

Service was also quick and friendly with good English spoken. The waiter was happy to answer our questions about local destinations and other papers to visit.

Highly recommend Ta Kavourakia!!! I saw a few recent negative reviews but it’s highly possible these were for nearby restaurants and Google just thought it was this place. I find it hard to believe those other reviews could refer to here after our great...
