honestly this place did not even deserve one star. from the moment we walked in, we should have left instead. already it is nearly empty and the waitress warned us that the food would take half an hour, for what reason? but we stayed anyways and as we were ordering there was constant confusion as to what was available and what was not. then we order two appetisers and one main course for two people. we were starving so we also asked for some bread in the meantime because the food was taking ages, the bread never came. then the first appetiser arrives, tiny tiny tiny portion, so cold and insanely salty. a great deal of time passes and there’s no sign of our second appetiser until they bring us an octopus that we never ordered and we made clear that we never ordered it. the waitress comes to us maybe 5 or 7 times asking us if we ordered the octopus. we end up not wanting the second appetiser because our main course had suddenly arrived, it is the lobster orzo for two people. it is extremely cold, tasteless and overpriced for the ridiculously tiny portion. because it tasted like nothing i wanted some parmesan and they brought me a container with nothing in it. the service is terrible nobody pays attention to the customers i was basically screaming and no one even turned around. i have constantly been pouring my own wine. there are plenty of people around complaining of the same things. i have been wanting to speak to the manager for 20 minutes now since i saw her walking around the restaurant earlier and suddenly she is no where to be found. if you ever come to paros, do yourself a favour and go immediately to barbarossa every night it is perfection...
Read moreSo the food was fine. The issue was the service. We were dining on a Friday night, though the restaurant was only half full. We placed our entire order (appetizers + entrees) at the same time, adding "but we're not in a rush" when placing. Regardless, one appetizer arrived in about three minutes (no issue there), and then the entire rest of the order, including entrees, arrived just two minutes later, having barely touched the first appetizer. When I noted that the entrees had been brought out waaay too quickly, I was told that that was how it was done at the restaurant. So we dined (again, the food was fine) and began waiting four our server to visit our table again. And we waited. And waited. And waited some more. She never came by to check in on us for 90 MINUTES after the food had been delivered despite passing us many times at a restaurant which wasn't that busy. We eventually had to let at least two other servers know that we were ready for the check, and even those requests didn't bring her back for at least 15 or 20 minutes. It's a shame such poor service marred what otherwise could have been a...
Read moreI visit Calypso every year for way over two decades now. It used to be really nice. Unfortunately, it is not nice anymore. Used to have great quality, really nice snacks and drinks. Now it has become nothing but a tourist trap. Extremely expensive for the low quality it offers and for the small quantities. The only good thing about it is the fact that it is in a nice spot at the old Naousa port. I really hope the owners will realize that customers are not just those who visit once and never return. Quality and normal prices will keep people coming back. Many people read and write reviews, and that will have an impact on their reputation. I hope that some day I will be able to change this review to something better, but for now, that's all they deserve.
Edit: Concerning the answer by the owner... I did not get confused. I just edited the review later to correct a grammar mistake. I am sorry dear sir, I mean no harm but reviews is all we consumers have. You had an amazing place years ago. Now you have an overpriced low quality business. I loved the place and really hope I can give you a better...
