Highly recommended by my hotel I went to book a reservation. In my 26 years of travelling alone I have never been treated so poorly by a restaurant. I stopped by midday to get a reservation. I was told by manager that if I arrived around 6-6:15 I would have no troubles getting a table. I arrived at 6:15 sharp and there were around 5 tables with people out of a restaurant that seats 60 tables plus. The staff were flustered from the beginning as I said table for 1. It took 4 waiters to finally decide what soul would wait on me. Finally it’s determined I can be seated but I must leave by 7:00-7:30pm to ensure they can use my table I had reserved for others. Mind you I didn’t pick the table they selected it. As I was seated the waiter made a ton of recommendations. I wanted to order a bottle of wine but was recommended a glass since I wasn’t booked in for long enough. I could not believe this time limit. It’s not high season nor as a solo traveler am I asking for accommodations than any other patron of their restaurant. I was understanding and ordered a glass of wine. My starters arrived but they brought me a small piece of bread that I could not even finish my appetisers because I didn’t have enough. I literally raised my hand 7 times and my waiter overlooked me every time. He made eye contact so it was totally intentional. Again less than 5 tables of less than 20 people total were seated and they had at best 15 waiters checking in on others. My food came and it was wrong. It took exactly 15 min to get someone’s attention as when they came to bring wine to the table directly beside me he turned his back to my table. I flagged down someone finally by getting up from my dinner and letting them know. With exactly 15 minutes left of my timed dinner they brought my grilled octopus out with my potato’s cold. Literally it had sat out for so long it wasn’t even warm and tasted chewy. At 7:29 on the dot my waiter came to have me pay the bill. My bill was over €50 as I was treating myself for my birthday dinner. They sure to asked me if I wanted to tip seeing I was American. I did leave only a €5 tip and still feel cheated out of a nice evening meal in this gorgeous city.
After meeting someone on my boat the next day their same sentiments were given for their experience.
Edited to add photos because the restaurant wants to claim I...
Read moreAn amazing experience and a must in Naousa. Granted, you might have to wait a little to be seated, even if you have a reservation. While you wait, maybe just pop up in the little store around the corner, buy a cold one, and enjoy it while you witness the skillful, hardworking staff orchestrate this lively, lovely crazy restaurant. See? Lots of fun and we didn’t even get to the table yet. Once you are seated, enjoy absolutely everything that surrounds you, for the beautiful old Naousa port (which means “this is not USA” in Greek true story-) is one fantastic place to be, and you should count yourself lucky to be here. The food, oh the food. We began with the grilled sardines which were an explosion of flavors. We also took -as a starter- the orzo, knowing is not a starter but aware that we are on holidays and we do whatever we want in whatever order we please. Then we were guided by Panagiotis, a legend who manages the restaurant, to chose our fresh, fish at the kitchen. We had a grilled Cernia (or grouper), that weighting around 1.6kg (you do the conversion), was big enough to feed three hungry adults and delicious enough to remind us why being a fisherman is a biblical type of job because … God that was good. As any good concert, encores are a must, and deserts are included in your service so you don’t even have to make a...
