0 stars. If you’ve travelled around Greece you know that their hospitality is second to none. This was THE worst experience starting from customer service followed by the food. Ordered a meal that came out with an allergen that they were made aware of (communicated to them in Greek). When questioned whether i was able to eat it, the waiter said yes. I asked for a second opinion as I couldn’t take that risk and it was immediately taken back to the kitchen with no apology or consideration. When the meal was remade, after one mouthful, of what tasted like I dipped a bowl into the ocean and scooped out some water to pour over some rice, I had spoken to the waiter and let him know that the meal was inedible and terrible to which he replied “thank you” and took my bowl straight away, not even a question as to why. When the manager came around, I spoke to him about the meal to which he instantly threw the blame back on me saying it’s my fault I ordered it. I then asked for it to be removed off the bill as the whole experience was crap. This was refused and paid in full, but this would never have happened elsewhere. This place is absolutely disgusting and their customer service is even worse. Would not recommend this place to anyone unless they want to be spoken to like they are beneath the waiters working there.
Based on the owner’s responses to other customer’s honest reviews, you can clearly understand why they are so rude- it starts from the top.
Business clearly needs a restructure, coaching on customer service and training offered to all employees on food that is served with allergens.
Additional response: Clearly my assumption of management was proven correct. After notifying the waiter of the known allergen, he looked and said it was fine and it wasn’t until I called him back to double check and the dish was taken away abruptly without any acknowledgement. The restaurant was not full (it was the only place that could take us as all other restaurants along the water were completely full), there wasn’t 8 of us, there were less, the comments made around the food was that it was “terrible & inedible”, they did not offer to remove the meal off the bill (we asked and were rudely refused by the manager continuously raised his voice and threw his arms around blaming the customer for his terrible service, attitude and food before he walked off mid conversation. it only takes someone with half a brain to read these reviews and understand what terrible customer service they have based on the comments on all negative reviews. Wish you all the best in future :D Nothing more needs or can be said about this place. For anyone new traveling to Greece, this does not happen anywhere as they are all known for their exceptional...
Read moreI’m honestly so glad we listened to our hotel receptionist advice and go to this restaurant . We were going to try out Barbarossa because of the Tik Tok hype , but i’m glad we didn’t end up having dinner there .
We got there around 8 pm and they had available tables for dinner. We decided to try the sardines , the lamb , and the linguine for dinner.
The sardines were super good with salt , lemon , and the chimichurri sauce . The flavors were nice .
The lamb was literally melting off the bone and had a nice tomato sauce flavor . The crunchy potatoes that soaked up all the juices literally made this dish amazing . I loved how the potatoes enhanced this dish and tied the lamb flavors nicely.
The star of the show for the night would have to be the linguine . It’s crazy because it seemed like such a simple dish . It had olive oil , some herbs , capers and a blob of some traditional cheese . Wow !!! it was divine and the linguine pasta was cooked perfectly. Dinner was excellent . For dessert they gave us a small piece of complimentary chocolate was a nice way to end the meal.
Bonus points . We walked to Barbarossa around 11 pm and heard them playing the Zorba song . Only one person was flinging their napkin around. It was literally expectation vs reality and wow that was a reality check . Best decision ever to go to...
Read moreIt was a perfect spot for breakfast, brunch & lunch (didn't experience the dinner crowd), with the breezy and peaceful seaside vibe. The breakfast item sort of "French Toast" with Greek brioche "Troureki" was a lovely combination with creativity and traditional recipe. Troureki is not supposed to an breakfast staple in Greece, but it was a highlight with choco spread, granolo and fresh fruits. The orange pie was nice and fluffy with significant amount of orange pulp and peel (I believe) and served on the bed of greek yoghurt, honey and citrus. I got a chicken souvlaki plate for my friend to taste (since weirdly she hadn't eaten any since her arrival). It was an decent dish with the properly-grilled meat, but a little modification on the flavor, as it was a bit overwhelmed by the cumin flavor not common in the traditional souvlaki marinade. In general, it was a truly pleasant dining experience. Thumbs up to their friendly and professional staff, especially Orpheas! Highly recommend...
