We saw the taverna on our first trip to the beach and seeing it was closed 4-7 decided to visit again when it was open and having read some great reviews, we love a good honest taverna with classic Greek dishes and this looked perfect.
We walked in at 7pm and was surprised to see it already 1/3 full, asked for a table for two adults and two kids and was met with a rather surly, “No, fully booked”. No smile no “sorry it’s really busy”. Just as we were about to turn away someone else intervened and we were shown to a table that we could have for an hour and a quarter - perfect! But it could have been handled so much better, I’m pleased you’re busy, I’m pleased you have a great restaurant!
Looking forward to ordering some great traditional food, some lamb chops? - off today, meat pie? - off today, Horta greens? - off today, Spinach pie?- off today, Any of the meat from the spit? - no! In total about 50% of the menu was off.
What we did have, grilled sardines, chicken souvlaki, chips, salad were all fresh and tasty, the waitress who got us a seat and continued to look after us was great.
They were busy and food was slowish to come out, so the hour and a quarter came and went, the booking for our table didn’t appear to show, all the other tables were full, perhaps they knew?!
I paid the same surly staff member by card as I left, who vaguely cracked a smile, we don’t know what has happened in someone’s day, so perhaps it just wasn’t a good...
Read moreLocated right next to Foki beach, this place was such a beautiful spot. We visited here twice during our stay in Fiscardo, once for dinner and once for lunch on our last day. Both times the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, the staff were friendly and helpful. The menu isn't super clear as to what's vegan or vegetarian as no proper description of the food. For dinner I had the stuffed tomatoes (which were vegan, stuffed with rice and vegetables, so good!!), fried zucchini and aubergine (which did some with tzatziki so not vegan but it was served in the middle so I could still eat the vegetables around it) and bread with olive oil and balsamic. For lunch I had the tomato and cucumber salad (vegan) and melon - really lovely and fresh food and gorgeous views. Quite reasonably priced and a typical Greek...
