This is a really good bakery. As well as all the bread we tried, we especially liked the feta pies, the Kefalonian meat pies, the brioches, and the orange cake. The locally made Tzatziki and jams/marmalades were also delicious.
This place is run by a grumpy bakery lady. She works long hours, and has a small shop that can only accomodate a few customers at a time. She is just not interested in providing service with a smile to tourists who pile into the shop four or five at a time, take ages deciding what to buy, and then order very little. If that sounds like you, then she will not attempt to be nice. In fact, she probably will be quite rude, but sometimes in an amusing way.
Follow these top tips each time you visit to become one of bakery lady's 'best customers' and unlock complimentary items and discounts: Take only one person into the shop with you if the shop is busy. Do not take more than two people into the shop with you at at any time. Always order 3 items or more, per visit. If you have people with you, buy at least one item (preferably more) per person. Think about what you might like to order before entering the shop. You will get very little thinking time at the counter. If bakery lady recommends some products to you, then give one or two of them a try. Realise that, surprisingly, bakery lady will remember you, and what you bought previously. If you re-order something she recommended previously, she will be pleased. Do not enter the shop with items you've purchased in the nearby supermarket, bakery lady seems to really hate the supermarket. Remember that anything sold in the bakery is likely to be made on the premises or locally, and will not be found cheaper in the supermarket. (The supermarket is eye-wateringly expensive.) But maybe don't buy the freshly squeezed orange juice. Although it is nice, this is actually expensive for a small bottle. Pay in cash if you can, especially on your first few visits. If you are not Greek, order in English. Be pleasant to bakery lady, but do not get offended if she is not friendly in return. Remember, there is no other bakery in Fiskardo. The one on the way to Emplisi beach is a long, uphill walk up a main road and isn't half as good. Do not quiz bakery lady in any detail on the ingredients of her products. Do not mention any food intolerances or special dietary requirements. But do think of any bonkers customer service you encounter as a memorable, fun experience. You are on holiday! My daughter and I would usually walk away from the shop laughing...

Can only echo every review posted here. The lady who works in the shop (maybe the owner? the lady in the pictures of the other reviews) is THE rudest person I have ever encountered. Wish I could post a zero star review.
It’s a very small shop for starters, so when we (me and my partner) arrived there was already another couple in the shop. So we politely waited outside for them to finish so we could enter (the lady working in the shop didn’t say a word to us at this time).
When the couple finished and left, me and my partner then entered the shop. We had been in to have a look around earlier so I knew what I wanted to get, so I went over to pick them up. I asked my partner if she wanted to get anything too, which she declined. The lady working in the shop then rudely shouts at us “then what are you doing in my shop? Get out! If you are not going to buy anything then get out” (all whilst I’m holding a couple of items from her shop that I want to buy… Then gestures for the next couple to enter the shop “you guys might as well come through.” Then proceeds to serve them instead of us and is SO over the top sarcastically kind to the next couple “aww you guys want to buy something? Not like these other people, you want to have fun! Life is for living, you guys know this. You guys have such kind souls, I love you guys.” This couple are unaware that its fake affection and its only done to spite us.
Absolute disgusting customer service. Incredibly rude and all for no reason. This woman doesn’t deserve to have a job working with the public. Absolute disgrace.
It’s not the type of place you typically think about checking reviews before you go, but if you do happen to stumble across these reviews before you visit, dont waste your time...
Read moreHaving seen the negative reviews, I knew I had to attend this establishment.
As I approached, I was gripped with trepidation—my palms were sweaty; mums spaghetti. But on the surface I was calm; ready to order a feta pie.
The service provided at first was disappointing. I was served my food efficiently and was assertively told what was available—although I was reassured there was potential for the situation to degenerate should I make any wrong moves. The request to use their bin was impressively dismissed with authoritative instruction that my water bottle was too big—fair enough.
We sat down to eat our food outside which was reasonably priced and nice. When I thought all was lost, I saw true potential for theatre at this establishment. Another potential patron arrived to sample the delicacies, who was told that the establishment was now closed. A tense stand off ensued where by the would be patron was confused at not being allowed to buy food due to a 5pm cut off point which appeared totally arbitrary, at least to me—but what do I know. I don’t run this establishment with an iron fist. Myself eating food outside no doubt fuelled their confusion. This exchange resulted in some insults being thrown by both parties but the host stayed strong and maintained their composure, rebuffing the would be patron.
In an age of the customer is always right, it’s refreshing to see an avant-garde establishment rebelling and living by its own rules and adopting a Berghain style door policy in the...
