My wife and I had already decided to go to The Little India whilst here, for the 3rd time, having enjoyed it twice last year. With a little time on our hands yesterday we decided to look up recent comments on TripAdvisor. Without going into details, one that stood out, and mentioned by a few, was that the staff were miserable and never smiled. Not only did this not put us off, we made it our priority to get to know the staff that served us by guess what? Asking them how they are. The young English girl who served us was so polite and the lady delivering our meal and drinks we found out came from Vietnam, a country of beauty and very friendly people, as we spent a month there December 22/23. We got talking to her as a human being, not as our waitress, about her country and she was so happy to speak to us as we compared notes on places we had visited. The food was as good as we have had in Goa and many Indian restaurants we’ve had the pleasure to dine in, way too many to mention. So, my advice is simply try the restaurant and get to know the people who are there to serve you. By the way, the dish washer is from Bulgaria, our country of residence, funny how you find things out if you’re...
Read moreTasty food, fast service and wonderful views. For one evening, we wanted a meal with sauce, as opposed to grilled meats, so we went for a curry night. Every dish was super tasty, came out in 10mins, which is great. The onion bhaji has a good zing. We also had the chicken murgh makhanwala (butter chicken) and veg korma. Lovely and creamy. The murgh makhanwala had 20 pieces of chicken in the curry which was more than enough for me and my partner. The veg korma was filled with vegetables, exactly what we want. I’m not sure why other reviews seemed so negative. It’s not 100% Authentic Indian food (which is too spicy for me anyway), it’s British Indian food, done in the ‘traditional’ British Indian way. That is to say, there’s a limit in the range of spices available, given it’s a small island and spices aren’t naturally grown here, but the dishes are made tasty with what is available. Plus, creamy, sweet and spicy is a British staple. No issues. Loved it...
Read moreNOT EVEN 1 STAR! To start with there was a lack of choice for main curry dishes. They don’t even do a basic chicken curry. Staff was extremely rude and walked off when you asked for something. Smoking inside!!! I understand this is allowed but it’s inconsiderate to others who don’t smoke and the restaurant smelt of cigarettes when we walked in. The green popadoms dip was the marinade on the chicken tikka on the tandoori dish, just watered down. Bad customer service don’t feel welcomed at all when walking in. Long wait for food was 35 minutes after starter was taken away not very busy either. Had to asks for drinks no one came to take our order. I ordered a side and they didn’t tell me till the main came out that they didn’t have it and waited for another side to come 10 minutes later when half my main was cold. Curry was served cold and tasted like gravy with chilli in. The toilet has no seat and wasn’t clean. Won’t...
