Taverna Troulos — Restaurant in Skiathos Municipality

Right on the beach, inexpensive food. We have visited this place few times. There was one waiter, who was great and careful, but do not know how to describe the rest ...(careless?) We realized that the low price is justified by lower quality of meal, smaller portions, etc. Greek salad lacked seasoning, it was just plain vegetables, some very few. If you try Greek salad in nearby restaurants, you find that there is a big difference for almost the same price. Surprisingly, when ordered Tarama, we were charged extra for a bread (5 small pieces of baguette for 2EUR?). Normally, Tarama salad (like Tzatziky etc) is automatically served with pita bread (or should we eat it just without bread?). Moussaka was quite small and served with french fries (?). Again, compare with others ... Eggplant salad was very plain, we missed some ingredients. Shrimps saganaki..we knew it was just an appetizer, however, we were really surprised to receive just a small portion for the price (8.5EUR) with only 4 small (coctail) shrimps without (again) pita bread. So this time, we raised a complain about the meal (size and number of shrimps). To our surprise, our favourite waiter opposed our arguments stating something like "what do you want for the price...you ate it...". I went here with my girlfriend twice. One time got the calamari and a gyro in pita bread and everything was great. Everything in the gyro was fresh and the calamari came out hot.

A few days later though we ordered a greek salad and a gyro portion and things were much worse.

The gyro meat was tasteless, chewy, greasy and slightly sour. The onions were sour, the tzatziki was warm and slightly bitter and the gyro portion does not come with pita bread.

The greek salad was okay, but had just a few green olives and the chunks were way too large.

The atmosphere is naturally quite nice since it's by a wonderful beach and the actual outside section is quite pleasant. The inside is unkept and the bathrooms are dirty, but that is to be expected from a beach side restaurant.

The service is fine. But i don't see why i have to wait 20 minutes for an instant coffee.

If you wanna sit down for a few drinks, some coffee or a few simple appetizers with time to spare. I'd recommend this place for it's nice atmosphere.

But if you want to sit down for a proper meal, I'd be careful. Maybe check out how popular it is that period of the day or week before...

The place and the location are ok. However, the time for the arrival of the food is quite long. The food is not a big fuss.

After asking for the bill like 3 times and waiting for it about 20 minutes, the waiter arrived and just started asking what we had ordered and started typing on a piece of paper just random numbers without any clear information about any number. As per my calculations the bill was quite high so we asked for a menu to double check, but the waiter insisted on calculating again. Finally after we got the menu, we double checked the prices of each meal and there was a difference of 25 euro. They gave us a receipt after asking for it a few times.

Other people never received any bill, rather than a piece of paper with some random handwritten numbers.
