We didn't finish a part of our meal (grilled octopus) because it just wasn't good - chewy, tasteless. One of the waiters, an older gentleman, took it back to the kitchen without saying a word or asking if everything was alright with the dish when it's not finished (as one should). Since our table was greatly positioned for the purpose, I could see the corner of the kitchen on the left in the back of the restaurant, and I saw him eating it (possibly sharing with staff members) and shaking his head. It's an €18 octopus, so if it's not touched, it's clearly not because a person doesn't feel like eating it, after ordering. To my surprise, after this, nobody returned to us and we sat there on an empty table for 10-15 minutes before another waiter noticed us and served us the bill without saying anything. Another 15 minutes passed before a third waiter who just started his shift came to collect the bill with the question/statement "everything is good, yeah 👍". Everything was not good, but the manner it was handled in, tells me that nobody cares. All the while, the owner of the restaurant was sitting across from us in the inner hall. I could have asked to speak with him or just went over, but wanted to see how it's handled by the staff - disappointing, hence this review. Positives - the fish soup and salads (all of them!) are of excellent quality. The meat dishes were great - well prepared, tender and tasty. Sea food, both grilled and fried, wasn't good - we tried shrimps, mussels, calamari in different variations, and they were all chewy, too oily or mixed with vegetables and mushrooms that kill any other taste. The lady waiter with the short hair was very kind and attentive - a true professional, only she was too busy when...
Read moreBest experience in Thassos, no matter if it's breakfast, lunch or dinner. Very tasty food, sea food and the bio vegetables! You can find good food in most "tavernas", but I cannot say the same about the service :( Krambousa staff and service was great - very kind, helpfull and honest! You can tell it's a family run business and they want returning customers. Unlike in other tavernas the olive oil is on the house (delicious and carefully picked), they only bring bread and water if you ask for it (other just put it on the table and then on your bill) and have considerate recommendations regarding food and the propper quantities (once they recommended only 1/2 portion of soup, since the main meal was consistent :)). They've also helped with recommendations for local products (what to buy/ eat). All in all, they've made us feel excellent, even if most of the times we were in a group of over 25 "demanding" people :) (adults and kids). Chapeau bas! :)
P. S. Great aubergines and zucchini served with a unique dip with garlic and...
Read moreThe most rude staff in the hole Thassos. They forgot to bring my pasta, although I asked for them twice(and said don't worry is ok). I called another waiter and asked him to speak with a staff manager. His response was, "Why?". We explained what happened and told them it's only fair to offer a discount, because is 11 PM and I will leave hungry from them. After a few minutes, the indifferent waiter returned and said, "Oh, we forgot to bring your food. Here is your bill" When we asked about the discount, he rudely replied, "The best thing we did for you was to deduct the pasta cost. What do you want from me now? Free food? We don't serve free meals around here" and he turn his back and left. We were not upset about that discount, it was just a common sense to do, but the rude staff answers was what pissed...
