If I could give Michaelos more than five stars, I absolutely would. Having travelled and dined extensively in Greece over the years, I can confidently say this is not only the finest Greek restaurant I have ever experienced, but also one of the best dining experiences I’ve had anywhere in the world. It feels bold to make such a statement, but it’s absolutely true.
From the moment we walked through the door, we were made to feel genuinely welcome. The team at Michaelos embody the very essence of Greek hospitality, warm, attentive, and eager to ensure every detail of the experience is perfect without ever being intrusive. It felt less like dining at a restaurant and more like being welcomed into someone’s home.
We started with the onion soup and the baked feta with honey. Both were outstanding! The soup was rich and deeply comforting, packed with flavour, while the feta was a perfect balance of savoury and sweet, with that drizzle of honey lifting it to another level. For mains, I chose the Moussaka, which was simply one of the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly layered, beautifully seasoned, and bursting with flavour, it was Greek comfort food at its finest. My partner went for the lamb, which was melt in the mouth tender, cooked to perfection, and full of the kind of flavour you can only achieve with slow, careful preparation.
Every bite was a reminder of why Greek cuisine is so special. From the freshness of the ingredients to the depth of flavour in each dish, it was clear that nothing here is rushed or compromised. This isn’t just restaurant food, it tastes like home cooking, made with care and pride, and it truly was to die for.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfectly complementing the food and service. Whether you’re looking for a romantic evening, a family gathering, or simply a place to enjoy outstanding traditional Greek dishes, Michaelos delivers on every front.
To say this is the best restaurant I’ve visited in Greece is no exaggeration. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to return again and again, not just for the food, but for the entire experience.
Michaelos isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a celebration of Greek culture, hospitality, and home cooking at its very best. An absolute must visit, and one I will remember fondly for...
Read moreThe dinner was good because of the nice setting, food was ok, can't say it was bad but I was sincerely expecting something else after looking at the reviews. Mussels a la Greek were good with a tasty sauce and rice. The sea bream was just ok, slightly overcooked on the grill which made it a bit dry, the side salad was mediocre and didn't fit with the fish. It was the worst kind of raw tasteless veggies, and the worst thing of it, with mayo on top?! ... This lack of criteria made me think twice if I was still in a restaurant in Greece, it didn't really hold down to the amazing cuisine and awesome olive oils that they have in such a nice country and that could be used instead. To not end the nightmare, they also added extra mayo in a small pot in case I did not have enough of it in the salad. On the other side, Zakynthian beef was good, very tender and with the right spices/sauce that enhanced its flavour, the side veggies were mediocre again. Ah, one more thing, the pita bread was deep-fried!? Couldn't believe it. Overall, prices were reasonable. The place as I said is nice with a lovely yard but for some reason it seems like only groups of british jubilee go there... maybe that's what explains...
Read moreVisited Michaelos after seeing positive reviews online. We were expecting big things. When ordering drinks we were told they had draught Mythos by one waiter, which we later found out wasn't Mythos and was a different less premium lager (not a problem, just don't appreciate being mislead). There was then an issue with our starter order - wrong dish came out. This was very quickly rectified, which we appreciated and the prawn saganaki was especially tasty.
We had moussaka and lamb kleftiko as mains. Lamb klefitko was flawless and had a whole slow roasted lamb shank with everything else you expect. The moussaka was ok but had way too much cinnamon and was quite sweet.
All food was quite reasonably priced.
My partner struggled to finish her moussaka and the disapproving look the waitor gave when clearing plates made us both feel quite uncomfortable.
Overall the food was ok. The service felt slightly forced, misleading and judgemental and I don't think we will...
