We’ve been visiting this place for years — back when the food had flavor, the service had manners, and the owners knew what they were doing. That version of the restaurant is gone. What’s left behind is an embarrassing shadow of what once was, now run by people who clearly have no business being in hospitality. Let’s talk facts: We placed our order. What arrived wasn’t even close. The waiter (who also happens to be in the family of the owner ) didn’t try to fix the mistake. Instead, he mumbled “I’ll look it up” and vanished. Ten minutes later, we had to flag him down again, only for him to say, “I didn’t hear that.” Really? The entire table heard the order — everyone except the guy who wrote it down. Instead of apologizing or correcting anything, he glared at us as if his mistake was our fault.

And then came the absolute highlight: We ordered a burrito. He brought us… a calzone. When we pointed this out, his answer was comedy gold: “That’s how we make burrito in Zakynthos.” Ah yes, culinary innovation: Calzurrito — the Greek hybrid no one asked for. Apparently, the “chef” behind this fusion fantasy is his mother. Sir, burritos and calzones come from different continents. Just because Mom’s been doing it wrong for 40 years doesn’t make it right. By the end of the meal (if you can call it that), there was no apology, no attempt to make things right, and of course, no complimentary treat (“kerasma”) like they offer to every other table. Apparently, if you don’t sit quietly and smile while being gaslit, you don’t get dessert, as in most of the restaurants in Zakynthos. Just the bill. And not a cheap one. We left hungry, overcharged, and shaking our heads at the level of unprofessionalism. The food was tasteless, the service outright hostile, and the whole experience? A masterclass in how to ruin a good restaurant. A real shame, because it used to be one of our favorites..

Walking into SizzleBang House felt like stepping into a friend’s kitchen—warm lighting, rustic décor, and a cheerful welcome from Spiro himself set the tone for a memorable evening.

The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, with a friendly, family-style vibe that makes you feel right at home. It’s the kind of place where you sit down for a meal and end up lingering because the environment is just that inviting.

The food? Absolutely delicious. The traditional moussaka was rich and flavorful, and I also tried the vegan moussaka and pita wrap—each dish full of taste, well-seasoned, and clearly made with care. The variety was impressive, and everything felt fresh and authentically Greek.

Service was outstanding. Spiro and the staff went above and beyond—attentive without being intrusive, and genuinely happy to recommend favorites or chat about the menu. You can tell they love what they do, and it shows.

If you have dietary needs, this is the place to be. They offer a great selection of gluten-free and vegan options, and they take your preferences seriously.

Prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality of food and service. Expect to spend around €10–20 per person. Service was quick, and even on a busy night, everything ran smoothly. Just a heads-up: parking nearby can be a bit tight during peak hours, so plan ahead.

An unforgettable evening full of heart & humor – just WOW!

The four of us visited Sizzle Bang House in Zakynthos, originally just following a recommendation – but what we experienced completely exceeded our expectations!

We were celebrating my husband’s 37th birthday – and although he’s not exactly thrilled about getting older 🙈, the amazing team made him feel truly celebrated with so much humor, warmth, and kindness. Our table was beautifully decorated, including a Minions garland, brilliant! – and when the birthday cake arrived, "Happy Birthday" played and all the guests joined in clapping. Such a goosebump moment!

The service was absolutely fantastic: super friendly, attentive, quick, and with excellent English – we immediately felt welcome and cared for. A big shoutout to the young lady and the young man who looked after us all evening – we sadly didn’t catch their names, but they deserve all the praise!

And as a special gesture, we even received a bottle of Secco on the house – what a generous and thoughtful surprise! 🥂

The Greek food was delicious, the atmosphere cheerful and relaxed, and the genuine warmth of the entire team made this evening truly special.
