Moonrise Comida Vegana — Restaurant in Guatemala City

I'm not sure why this place has been rated so highly. Overpriced (even for Europeans), long waits, and low quality food. I waited nearly 40 minutes to be served a freezing cold burger and fries.

The tenessee burger might have been one of the worst burgers I've ever tried in my life. It tastes as sad as it looks. One bite, and I wanted to spit it out. It was unbelievably dry, and the sauce was so sickly sweet. I was expecting smoky BBQ flavours. Instead, it tasted far too sweet. As vegan burgers go, this one is bad enough to make someone want to go to McDonald's for a big mac.

I'm also amazed at how it's even possible to get fries so wrong. My instinct tells me that they were prepared earlier and reheated, but someone forgot to turn the temperature up on the microwave. The fact that they're extra is an insult.

For the price Moonrise want to charge for their food, they can't afford to screw up this badly and need to do better. Burgers should come with fries as standard, not for extra. It also shouldn't take 40 minutes to serve customers when it's not that busy. Also, they should serve their food warm.

You can also see in the photo that the table isn't as clean as it could be.

The experience was so disappointing. It's always sad to see a place like this get it so wrong. I hope they can learn from the experience...

One of the best vegan restaurants I have ever been to! Everything about this place is so welcoming! From the food, the staff and especially the cozy seating. It was such a wonderful experience that it became a highlight of my first time in Guatemala.

I'd also like to say that the owner was such an amazing host and completely made our experience there so great. She chatted with us as we waited for our food and helped explain the menu to me since I'm new to vegan cuisine.

Top notch vegan food! We wanted to try everything on the menu as it all sounded amazing and the reviews were so good. Thankfully the food didn’t disappoint the tofu nuggets were crispy and chewy and came with a tangy mustard dip. The rice paper rolls were fresh, flavoursome and came with a zingy ginger dip. Grandiosa burger had a soft pretzel bun, crispy bacon slices and chewy seitan patty. It could have had a bit more sauce (but I’m being very picky) Veggie bowl 2.0 was fresh, colourful and had delicious crispy tempeh cubes on top.
