If I lived in this neighborhood I would be here almost every day. The atmosphere alone is worth just spending time at Csészényi - the interesting artwork and antiques, the amazing coffeemaker wall. Normally I am all about the music as part of a cafe atmosphere but not having it here merely lends itself to creating a space that meanders between silent study and vibrant conversation. I originally chose to stop in here because someone had mentioned the hot chocolate (which my nine-year-old still says is the best!) but my husband loved the coffee and ordering a green tea brought a big steaming mug of hot water diffusing a delicious loose-leaf sachet. Between the sweet dog keeping his owner company while he worked, to the two older Hungarian gents having a lively conversation, the noise of the coffee grinder, and the winter light streaming through the windows, it was any wonder we stopped back again before we left.

If you’re searching for a cozy spot that feels like a warm hug, this is the place to be! The atmosphere is simply amazing – a perfect blend of charm and comfort, making it the ideal retreat whether you’re on your own or with friends. The coffee here is nothing short of spectacular. Knowing they roast it in-house adds a whole new level of appreciation – every sip is rich, fresh, and crafted with care. And if you’re more of a hot chocolate fan, you’re in for a treat! Their hot chocolate is heavenly, with just the right balance of creamy sweetness and indulgence. P.S. Everyone has a day. Today, the guy behind the counter wasn’t smiling. We hope he feels better soon – sending positive vibes his way! This place isn’t just a coffee shop; it’s an experience. Whether you’re a coffee aficionado or someone who loves a delightful space to unwind, this gem deserves every bit of praise. Can’t wait to return!

Do you like a place with a theme? The theme here is old-school. It goes so far we even saw a real old school intellectual—with a pointy beard, an embroidered waistcoat, high collar, and a notebook. Come on Saturday, maybe it's a part of a weekly program. The cafe looks like a a tribute to Franck, a "Croatian coffee, tea and snacks company", as the Wikipedia has it. There are posters, and a full wall of grinders, which I'm not sure are a Franck's staple—please ask the resident intellectual next time you visit.

Now this is the Hungarian café, not the NY! And the best part is: THERE IS NO MUSIC, THANK YOU!Longer version below. The most traditional, cozs place Ive been to. The food is exquisit, the coffee is tasty and they grind it on the spot. There is no deafening or mind numbing music, so you can enjoy a good convo. The place is south-oriented: sunny and warm. Sadly, the owner is the inly server, so you need to wait for a bit. Can be grumpy, but adorable. Must visit

While it may be a bit off from the beaten path, it's still a place worth visiting. The coffees are old school (no bearded baristas here) but the quality is good and the prices are even better. The quiet amosphere and authetic Buda decoration is what it makes this place really special. If you are hungry try their super cheap sandwitches, they are also pretty good.

Beautiful and cosy place. Old wooden decor is well laid out with cool antiques found throughout the Cafe. Coffee - I ordered a flat white and it was really well done. No foam and the Coffee was not bitter. We had a white chocolate cake which was very tasty and not too overwhelming with sweetness! The man who served us was really lovely!
