We spotted this restaurant on the Buda side of Budapest while walking but couldn't try it because of their availability. Another time, when we returned to Budapest, it was one of the restaurants we wanted to try, and we had our first dinner here, which we really enjoyed.
The menu looked fantastic. They had goulash both as a main course and as a soup on the menu. We ordered goulash-meal and pickles. They have a great selection of local wines, including wines from the Gere family. We chose Gere Cabernet Sauvignon wine. The atmosphere was lovely, and our meals were incredibly delicious. We enjoyed our meal so much that we wanted to try their desserts as well. We ordered Somloi and literally "loved it!" Everything was very tasty.
I can definitely recommend this restaurant and will certainly visit again.
Additionally, I should mention that two more couples arrived at the restaurant at the same time as us, and they were also foreigners like us. Unfortunately, the waiter was a bit rude during the initial greeting and while taking orders. Initially, we thought it was a tourist-oriented attitude, but later on, the behavior softened, and they acted quite professionally. I wanted to mention this because I noticed complaints about this issue in many other reviews; I believe it was not intentional rudeness, but rather a misunderstanding. Hopefully, they will take this as a reminder to pay more attention to...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at this locally owned restaurant with my partner, and we had an amazing experience! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed—the staff was incredibly attentive, polite, and warm. You can really tell that this place is run with passion and care. 💛
As for the food—absolutely delicious! We tried the schnitzel and the gypsy-style meat served on a wooden board, and both were incredibly flavorful and cooked to perfection. The portions were huge! To go with our meal, we had draft beer, which was refreshing and the perfect match for the hearty dishes. 🍻
For dessert, we went all in with a pancake and a brownie, and both were just as amazing as the main course. Soft, rich, and full of flavor!
Overall, everything was fantastic—great food, generous portions, and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. If you’re looking for a wonderful date night spot or just a delicious meal, this place is a must-visit! Highly...
Read moreFive stars is not enough to express how great the experience here was. This was by far the best meal my partner and I ate in Budapest, and I mean I by far. No other dining experience even came close. I had the veal goulash and my partner had the gipsy steak, which I believe may have been on the specials menu on this particular evening. Both meals we beautifully prepared with quality ingredients and were bursting with flavour. The portion size was also very generous! The outstanding food was also matched with wonderful hospitality. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by a friendly and enthusiastic wait staff and shown to our table. The waiter took the time to explain the menu and give recommendations (which were all great recommendations I must add). If the staff ever read this review thank you again for the wonderful dining experience it is one that shall be a fond memory for a long...
