We were excited to come here for our anniversary meal because of the good reviews.
But reading the negative reviews would've been wise, because the exact same waiter who had bad attitude towards others ruined the experience.
Unfortunately neither food or ambiance could make up for it when someone makes it very clear he doesn't want to serve you.
Our drinks were late, and we couldn't get any service (or even smiles). Despite trying to be nice and work with the staff, it's really hard when no one comes to check on how we're doing - not even once.
This waiter actually ignored us on purpose - going around to the three tables around us checking how they're doing, but somehow didn't see us. The only time he talked to us was when he came for the check. And no politeness or good byes.
Now we're from the US, and always try to treat others with respect and expect the same. There were other tables around us, who looked like they're from Europe, and they were treated how we'd like to be treated. But I can see this waiter in particular avoided the table with Asians and those who didn't looked like him. I guess he might've assumed the worst about us. But in the process, he showed the worst about himself. A shame for anyone to have this kind of restaurant experience.
PS: We still tipped for the bad service in consideration of other waiters in case tips are pooled and shared. But this waiter definitely didn't deserve it. We do have to though share this on other platforms so similar travelers will be aware. It's the same price for everyone, so should...
Read moreThis had to be one of our favorite restaurants during our visit to Budapest. What made it so special besides its obvious charm and wonderful cuisine, was the staff. So before reviewing further, let us recognize to superb staff members we had the pleasure of being taken care of during our lunch. They are Akos and Bence, who went above and beyond to make us feel like we were close friends, what a delight it was meeting them that find Halloween day. So, if you are visiting the Castle Hill District, you need to make it a point to stop at this amazing restaurant for lunch or dinner. There are numerous dining tables both inside and outside of the restaurant and the atmosphere inside is warm, charming and inviting to those who visit. The restaurant has a variety of daily specials, and the prices are quite reasonable, especially considering the generous food portions. We had goulash and the soup of the day, which I believe was spicy pumpkin soup and the fresh homemade bread was wonderful. Overall, this was a wonderful luncheon experience, in essence, a sensory feast. So, from the couple from Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, thank you again for the experience and the kudos once again to...
Read moreWe enjoyed a delightful dinner. Our Server, David, was very helpful, personable, and professional. He also spoke English very well, which was helpful because our Hungarian is limited. We started with a Martini Fiero and a Stella. The atmosphere was upbeat but not loud. We did not have reservations but they were able to seat us even though the restaurant was busy. We ordered two house specialties, the chicken paprikash and the schnitzel. Both were great. The chicken was served with noodle dumplings and the sauce was delicious. We also got the cucumber salad which was thinly sliced marinated cucumbers in a vinaigrette dressing. The home made sour dough bread was great and we were served an amuse bouche of a cream cheese like spread with paprika. Everything was garnished with fresh herbs. Thanks to David, we learned about other restaurants owned by the same owners. We originally chose this restaurant because it was recommended by our guide that took us around The Buda Castle area...
