Fanyűvő restaurant — Restaurant in Budapest

We visited this Budapest restaurant as a family, and it was simply fantastic! From the moment we walked in, we felt the warm and inviting atmosphere of a beautifully designed space, perfectly suited to the traditional dishes they offered.

The food was delicious – flavorful, authentic, and the portions were more than generous. They even had bryndzové halušky, a traditional Slovak dish, which was a delightful surprise and perfectly prepared. The prices were very reasonable, which is a rare find in the heart of Budapest. We truly felt that the quality we received was outstanding for the price.

Didn’t feel overly tourist friendly… this is clearly a local restaurant who understandably prioritises their local customers over tourists. We waited nearly 45 minutes for our food whilst we watched numerous parties of locals come in, get seated and have their food in front of them way after we were seated - which is a shame. Although this seemed to be recognised by staff as they gave us 2 raspberry shots on the house for the delay. The food was nice, albeit my steak was a bit over seasoned and they did not ask how I would like it cooked so it just came out well done. Honestly, the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. We sat on the terrace: 3 tables, 1 waitress. We waited 30 minutes for the waitress to come to us but she was so busy hanging out with this one other table this ENTIRE time (obviously with friends of hers) that she PURPOSELY ignored us (just like the only other table that were DESPERATELY trying to get her attention to pay), regardless how much effort we made, even though we were literally seating 1 meter away from her. We ended up leaving, outraged. Never experienced such a lack of professionalism in a restaurant before. Hopefully will be a ‘funny’ story to tell in the future.
