Several notes on the desk in the restaurant.
Note to Google. We visited the restaurant almost randomly after reading Google feedbacks sitting on a bench nearby.
Note to the Chief. You are the great! With your efforts, it was not just the eating of the good meals, instead, it was about taste experience. You make the ordinary products sound with special notes. And vegetable part of main course meals sounds stronger than meat. Every dish becomes a small enigma in your hands: How did you make it? What is this? What are these notes of taste? Thank you!!!
Note to service. Music selection underlined the meals. The lady sings well-known hits by different manner. Btw, remind me her name.
Note to marketing/ owner. The name of your place and picture on a table suggest we are consuming various parts of a dragon. Why don't you name the meals by the dragon body parts? As I mentioned, the type of meat doesn't play a role in experience.
Note to my family and other future visitors. Well, feelings are mixed after all. In the future, we will measure all the other places in comparison to the experience we got today. It is already clear that 3/4 of restaurants worldwide will be worse. They just supply high quality food proceesed sharply according good receipt and dilevered smoothly to your stomach. None of them provide you similar taste experience. They are just a food. Thus, guys,...
Read moreVery nice family run restaurant in lovely Szentendre with a great weekend food delivery service during the COVID pandemic / Nagyon barátságos családi étterem Szentendrén, remek hétvégi ételkiszállítással a COVID járvány alatt
(Magyar vélemény a végén) This is a very nice family run restaurant (2nd generation of restaurateurs), with an inventive take on traditional Hungarian cuisine, and a nice atmosphere. We've kind of inherited the custom to visit Aranysárkány from our parents, and us being on/off regulars in the last quarter of a century. COVID changed our customs, and also the possibilities for restaurateurs, and Mr Máhr and his team lived up to the challenge, and organized a cool round-the-world weekend menu delivery series since early spring (from Russian, through Irish, to American cuisine, yes last week's was Thanksgiving with all the trimmings), which is an especially nice idea given the very limited options to travel (let alone leaving your neighborhood). The quality is constantly good, as we have been used to in the last 25 or so years, the ambience is not as fancy as the carpet covered walls and the old wine press of the real Aranysárkány, but the food is the same we're used to from the the Máhr family, and reasonably safe in the current situation. If you're living in the vicinity of Szentendre and/or Budapest it is highly recommended to try their weekly menu (see their social media) until life returns to normal, and we can safely return to Aranysárkány in person.

Garlic Cream Soup Bryndza Style: I loved it. My wife found the the cheese dumpling overpowering.
Pork Cut with Rosemary: Decadent. The bacon in the side dish was a bit much for us paired with pork belly. A yummy dish, but hard to finish because of the richness.
Fried Cheese ‘with a Difference’ : Good, but to us it was nothing special.
Poppy Seed Bread Pudding: The portion could be half the size. It was huge, even for two. It was too sweet for us. Tasty for a few bites, but then the sweetness was overwhelming.
Overall a positive experience. One suggestion would be to let patrons know what is not available when seating.
A good restaurant. I would respectively say it's overrated on google reviews, though I am not sure if there a better option...
