Visited Grill Avenue on Saturday (17th.) We had a few beers, Kung Pao chicken, French fries for starters and finally Naan and Chicken Butter Masala for main course. The main course was very good but the french fries weren't crunchy but eatable and Kung Pao Chicken was not upto the mark. What was bad was the service. We reached just after 4pm and literally the only people in there. The room was very hot and had to request twice to switch on the AC after which they finally did. We also had to wait for a long time to make our requests to the waiter as there was nobody available to serve us most of the time. Now to the horrible part. As the bill arrived they levied a service charge of 66 on food and 88 on alcohol. We wanted to pay through Zomato as it said 25% off on ' total bill. ' However, they said that it's only applicable to the food part so we obliged to pay the alcohol bill via cash. We however requested them to cut out the Service Charge as we conveyed that service wasn't upto the mark. The waiter cum cashier said that they charge service charge mandatorily and cannot remove it. I pointed that the Supreme Court ruled that Service Charge is voluntary. However they refused and finally only cancelled the Service Charge from the food part and refused to cancel Service Charge on Alcohol. The manager finally came down from top and was very rude and unprofessional and said if we don't want to pay the service charge he won't accept any money from us. But we payed everything except the Service Charge and left. I have attached a few pics here as proof. I have also got them on video forcing us to pay voluntary fee and will file a case in the consumer court as they have violated a SC judgement. I would like to make everyone aware with this post that Service Charge is voluntary, be it on alcohol or on food and you don't have to pay it if service isn't upto the mark. Stand up for your rights.
Edit: It's not a Supreme Court order but a communication from Ministry of Consumer Affairs. I must have mixed it up with something else but my point still holds true,...
Read moreThe other day I was at Grill Avenue with some of my friends and It’s was totally I worth visiting place. Firstly the entrance is so welcoming and gives you a positive vibes on it own. The interiors are highly entertaining as they had worked immensely well giving it some what an anticlimax sense of the old era to the modern day artistic works. The place is spacious and can accommodate a great no of people. Also they have a separate party which one can book for personal table or for birthday party. Grill Avenue is a paradise when it comes to great places in Guwahati. This new place is Located at Rajgarh is grabbing its roots by the flavours of amazing dishes they serve you at an minimalist rate. The prices are pretty decent to afford such luxury dishes. The service and quality of Food : When it comes to service I would them a 4 out 5. Staff is very friendly and good at service. Quality of food is somewhat delicious that’s ofcourse one of the core reason to visit this place. I had tried their Christmas special menu which was appealing and delicious. Starting off the mock tails were superb. The smacking taste of indian flavours made my day. The paneer tikkas, chicken tikka masala, the spicy Kababs were really good in taste and indeed goes to your winter appetising meal. For main course I had the chicken biryani which was again really nice , shows topper were the sizzlers it’s something you cannot miss if you are at GRILL AVENUE. The tastes were really good of all the ones I had. Please refer to my pictures further. Desserts I had home made Rosogolla which was soft and yummy! Over all grill avenue was tremendously a whole new experience in the City again . Do visit them and try for their endless number of cuisines...
Read moreHorrible experience... We went there on a Sunday Eve and the restaurant was empty... The restaurant workers were watching TV when we entered... A guy approached to us and let us sit... So we asked him to start the serving ... He said it will take 20 minutes ... We said allright we will wait... So after twenty minute when we asked the guy he said it will be coming soon and then he disappeared... It looked like he got busy with some orders from the hotel above... They both have the same kitchen to serve guests... So they made us waiting for around one and a half hour... We were just about to leave then an another guy came up with a plate of chicken tikka... We were five guys and we were hungry as we came from a swimming session ... The plate didn't even lasted for 2 minutes then again. They made us waiting for more that 15 minutes... And then the guy came with some paneer and other items... The taste was not that bad but the items were not the one they used to boast about in their advertisement... Then the service was ok for one hour... And we felt full too quick as we had to eat in hurry everything as we were getting late... In desert there was nothing... The main dish wasn't that good but we were hungry so didn't have enough time to think... At the end they made some errors in the bill also... I don't know may be they are running in loss that's why the service is deterring ... I would suggest they do some better arrangements for the service and do some good marketing... Otherwise the restaurant won't survive...
