I am born and brought up in Assam. I have a soft corner for anything related to Assam and especially the food. Went there for the first time. Ordered a pork thali. My friends ordered chicken thali as they were not sure of the pork. However, the thali was amazing. The food was tasty, dal was good, Khar was nice, Aloo Pitika was amazing with a lot of mustardy flavour, Paleng haak was nice, rice was more than sufficient and not to forget the pork curry. Even they found the chicken to be tender and tasty. It is also decently priced. I must say value for money. The quantity was sufficient. Infact it was quite a bit more for my appetite. They have good Assamese songs playing in the background which gives you a feel good factor. Also the staff there is friendly and courteous. The wait time is roughly about 15 mins which is pretty decent. They have a variety of Authentic Assamese dishes as well. The place is not very big and is inside a lane in Koramangala and can be missed out if you do not know about it. They should work on a little bit in highlighting and advertising the place. Also it is at the first floor. They have tried to recreate a mini Assam inside. Their furnitures are made of Bamboo and they have japis and horais and paintings from Assamese culture to cover their interiors. All the staff...

Read moreFor a long time whenever I feel the need of homely food, Axomi is one place I have always trusted. Due to Assam’s proximity with Bengal we share a lot in common and food is no exception. Definitely there are differences as well but I find the different thalis available at Axomi really good. The best part is except non-veg and brinjal fry (begoon bhaja or bengana fry) all other items are unlimited and the price starts at rupees 130 for full veg thali which is very reasonable. Service is little laid back and ambiance is not so great but they maintain basic cleanliness and the food served at Axomi is always very fresh. That is more than adequate for me. Except the regular thalis, few other items I really love at Axomi are:
Maas Pitika – shallow fried rohu fish mashed with onion, green chilies and mustard oil Pator Diya Maas – spicy rohu fish pieces steamed in banana leaf Khorikat Pura Chicken – Smoked chicken served with spicy chutney accompanied with onion, smoked green chilies topped with salt and mustard oil. A must try! Pork curry Pork curry with bamboo...
