A Big Shoutout to Cafe de Varde and Gava Hostel in Koramangala!
Cafe de Varde and Gava Hostel in Bangalore’s Koramangala is my go-to spot—it feels like home! Ram and Sagar, the incredible owners, make every visit so warm and welcoming. The plant-based cafe serves up amazing dishes—creamy smoothies, hearty thalis, and drool-worthy desserts that hit all the right spots. The chill, green vibe only adds to the charm.
Gava Hostel is like staying at a close friend’s place. The rooms are cozy, clean, and packed with that Goan-inspired warmth. Whether you’re traveling solo or with friends, the hostel’s friendly atmosphere makes you feel instantly at ease. Ram and Sagar’s smiles and chats make it even more special.
It’s upsetting to see some unfair negative reviews floating around. I’ve been here countless times, and the food, service, and vibes are always spot-on. Those reviews don’t reflect the magic of this place. Ram and Sagar pour their hearts into everything, and it shows.
If you’re in Koramangala and craving delicious plant-based food or a cozy stay, Cafe de Varde and Gava Hostel are a must. You’ll leave with a full belly and a happy heart. Big love to Ram and Sagar for making this spot so...
Read moreFood: The food feels underwhelming for the price point. Dishes like the Korean sauce cauliflower and toast were excessively salty, as was even the salted caramel coffee which shouldn’t have been quite that salty. The Granola Bowl was advertised with seasonal fruits but only included banana, apple, pomegranate, raisins, and some seeds decent, but nothing special.
Service: Service left a lot to be desired. When asked for the bill, the staff first claimed the machine was in charge and couldn’t generate a printed receipt. Upon further request, they showed a poorly handwritten bill on paper with just the total , no official receipt. Not very professional or transparent.
Atmosphere: The cafe is located right next to a busy street, so expect constant honking and the sound of speeding bikes. It’s not the most peaceful setting.
They do have pets around, which some visitors might find cheerful and welcoming. The indoor seating is floor-based, which may feel aesthetic to some, but could be...

One of the owners, a man named Sagar, seems to believe that investing 40 lakhs in a café gives him a lifetime pass to announce it to every living soul perhaps even the cutlery. The food is actually delightful, and the staff? Incredibly polite. But then there’s him, hovering, meddling, and inserting himself into women’s conversations like an uninvited garnish.
It wasn’t just me. I could see other women shrinking in their chairs, trying to dodge his unsolicited commentary. It’s a real shame, a beautiful space being tarnished by one man’s inability to respect personal boundaries.
Here’s hoping someone gives him the memo that no amount of investment buys class or consent.
Because if this continues, the only thing he’ll be running is a failed business and a reputation...
