Ordered a birthday cake from the impossibly delectable and varied list of options on their misleading website...the call centre executive confirmed the order...got the confirmation SMS with the selected cake and timing....until...
...got a call an hr later that only two flavors are available...... the birthday was next day... already in a time crunch and shortage of options in the lockdown...so picked a flavor of the two.... got the order 'confirmed' again....... finally got the cake at 7 pm.....tucked it safely in the fridge for the midnight mini-bday celebration.....
......the clock hits 12.....its officially the birthday...everyone is ready for the cake...one of the handful things that we still feel excited for in this lockdown....so got the cake out and saw 6 black forest pastries organised in a circle like a freaking JOKE.....
.....the personalised birthday message was nowhere to be found coz that's not what you do on pastries...that's for actual birthday cakes....one that I actually wanted but couldn't get since I did the mistake of choosing 'Chef Bakers' for a special occasion...
...I picked a heart-shaped okay-looking black forest BIRTHDAY CAKE, not pastries, from their menu that boasts of so many varieties and flavors of cakes that they clearly don't have in stock when you might actually want it....
.....but instead of telling us on time like a responsible service provider so that we can manage a 'proper birthday cake' from somewhere else....they dumped 6 very average-quality overpriced black forest pastries and tagged us with a bill of Rs. 495 .
...why would anyone want black forest pastries for their birthday?...why did I not get notified beforehand that I would be getting 6 pastries instead of a heart-shaped festive birthday cake that I so specifically ordered?...one of the worst ways to ruin someone's birthday BTW...
...it's called birthday cake for a reason....no one wants to cut a bunch of pastries on their birthday....worst experience ever...would surely not repeat....
....definitely not recommend it to anyone who wants to commemorate their special occasions with a half decent cake..
....go for it only and only if you are fine with an overpriced random garbage in the name of 'premium cakes' without any...
Read moreCakes here are usually good and much to my liking...moist on the inside, rich flavorful layers, not excessive cream or excess colour. Even the sweetness is well balanced. I have had guests appreciating the cake for its rich feel. You should try some of their specialty or premium cakes on the menu which you won't find readily available in the store but needs to be ordered in advance. That brings me to the topic of ordering a cake of your choice and expecting it to be delivered.
Weird...their revamped website has a very minimalistic design. It lists the cakes they sell but doesn't provide any details on the flavour. Then messaged the store and got no response. I haven't had the best experience with this store in the last couple of years as there is always some issue or the other. If order is placed on the website then good luck with your order. Chances are they'll not have your order ready on your date. Coordination between central team and delivery store is totally absent. I have experienced it first hand...not once not twice but multiple times even after me following up with their call center one day before. There's nothing worse than not having your cake order on the day of celebration. For these guys it's just a business enterprise and they just move on with an apology or a ₹50 discount for their lapses with customer left fuming, sad, and frustrated for making a bad choice. Guys, pull up your socks if you want to stay...
Read moreIt was 12 th May when we had guests at home and to celebrate a birthday and we planned to buy few pastries to cater to different taste buds instead of one cake . So it was a combination of 5-6 pastries and also tea cake . Bill I would say was equivalent to a small size cake .
Going home , the kids were excited about the diff pastries and to our surprise not a single piece was fresh . All of them were as hard as a rock . The tea cake had expiry after 2 days but believe me it must be already expired product , it was that bad.. I have been quite a regular customer of CHEF BAKERS YELAHNKA NEW TOWN Had always ordered my kids birthday cakes from here which are in like 3-5 kg qty
But then my recent experience now , I feel they just sell the rotten cakes with new expiry tags . I always liked the grandma cake here , but that too is not available now and the other tea cakes are not fresh I am writing after 2-3 times experiencing such stale products , left with no choice but to throw away as it was Awful😏😏
Good that many other bakeries have come up in Yelahanka for enough...
