Indirangar has added another Pan-Asian restaurant to it’s vast collection. Chilli & Chives opened recently and we were excited to try out some delicious Pan-Asian food. We visited the place around five in the evening and it was absolutely empty and makes sense considering most of them would come for either lunch or dinner. They are open throughout the day and I think that’s good for all of us. We had the following while we were at Chilli & Chives.
Before we began our dishes they provided with a nice bowl of fruit salad and it has to be the most refreshing salad I have ever had.
Har Gau is a prawn dim sum, a Cantonese delicacy with loads of sesame and bamboo shoots. I must say this is very tasty and I would suggest everyone to try it out. Although four pieces is not enough, it is very affordable unlike many other places.
The Hong Kong style Chicken Bao was very different in terms of the preparation. These were fluffy buns filled with chicken which was cooked perfectly. The sauce inside the bun was spicy and nice as well.
For main course we had the Khao Sui as our choice of noodles. This is a famous North Thai style noodle soup which is basically steamed noodles immersed in coconut milk based soup that is a whole meal on it’s own. It is served with crispy noodles, onions, garlic flakes, chili’s to add more taste and flavor to the dish. The meat was perfect, the consistency was brilliant, and the taste was magnificent.
For Rice, we had the Khao Pad Kaprow which is rice tossed with chilli, tomatoes, and topped with basil. The taste was very authentic, even though the dish comes across as a little greasy, you are bound to enjoy the amalgam of tastes that the dish provides.
The Vietnamese Boba Cold Coffee was very average, tasted very different and we did not get the caffeine rush we were hoping for.
Fresh Lime Soda was spot on, the right amount of sugar and salt made this absolutely refreshing.
The parking maybe tough as they are on the main road, the service is quick, and the staff are super friendly. They will always come by and ask for your feedback and suggestions hoping to make you comfortable at all times. The food is very authentic and true to it’s origins and you are bound to have a great time at Chilli & Chives. You can find them at 3169/B, ESI Hospital – Domlur Service Road, HAL 2nd Stage, Indiranagar, Bangalore.

Read moreSomewhere around the Domlur road I lies this quaint restaurant with basic seating and lighting. The name struck us and we gave it a try. We were in for a surprise! Their menu was elaborate and covered a large range of cuisines across the Asian category.
To start of with the Tom Yum soup and Coriander Soup were flavoursome filled with quality seafood and ingredients. Then came the best part which was the Banana Leaf Balinese fish which was to die for, such a wonderful blend of sambal and lemon grass marinade on some basa 🥹. Followed this up with Har Gau shrimp which was again flavoursome along with chilly oil.
Moving onto the main course we tried the Laotian Lamb alongside jasmine rice which again was a different blend of flavours (the steam jasmine smell though was fulfilling).
Lastly the desert which was the Thai water chestnut with rose flavour and coconut milk. Words can’t describe the feeling it brings to the heart. Such a great tasting dish I must say.
To conclude was when we asked for the bill and the prices left us astounded. Affordable and of great quality!! Keep up...
Read moreThe food was below average for sure. Things we Ordered Raw mango salad - who adds raw onion, tomatoes and peanuts together in the salad? It was tasting like bhel Puri with the raw mango. The salad was also very soggy making it less appetizing. Burma Burma makes a superb version of this which is a must try.
Next ordered corn, cashew and mushroom bao. So the things about a bao is, it's tasteless so whatever you need to add inside should pack all the flavour inside so that together it tastes amazing! But in the bao that was served here, the filling has no flavour, just cut cashew, corn and mushroom gaah without any flavour which made it very very ordinary without any flavour. Bad dish again!
Next we ordered the Thai chilli basil noodles hoping for some sanity but then this also was disappointing! The extra chilli paste added with the basil was leaving a very greasy and non appetising taste on the palette. Overall a really disappointing dinner. The old Tandoori Taal was such a beautiful place with great north Indian fare, maybe the management should...
