Chef fussy and Chef Sarabjeet made every second that lead to ‘ the hundred hour’ class a surreal experience. We were challenged not just to learn theoretically but to put all our new techniques to practice. Within the bounds of our kitchen we went on a culinary journey from South-East Asia to South America and stoped for some wine in Europe! Like any new venture, the class came with its challenges, the names of dishes were intimidating, the tastes were foreign the techniques were advanced. But, the supportive and friendly environment at Slurp studio was conducive to pushing limits and breaking boundaries. Serious discussions about the origins of certain dishes was beautiful balanced with light hearted banter, like we learnt to balance the taste of sour with sweet. I joined Slurp studio to give my madness in the kitchen some direction. I have to say this was achieved as I now see my self bonding over food with my family and friends with absolute ease. My love for food and the detail in which it is prepared is now taken to another level by these two amazing chefs. What started as a search for a cooking class for my ten year old daughter and her friends on her birthday brought me to this wonderful quaint studio "Slurp", in Indranagar. Sarabjit, the owner and head chef of the place assured me that the two hours the kids would spend there would be an amazing experience ,where they wouldn't just have fun but also learn about the world of food and cooking in ways that they wouldn't have before. Excited on hearing the brief, I went ahead and booked the place for my daughter and her 11 friends all in the age group of 8-10 years. While the kids were excited about what they were going to cook, what neither they nor I expected was to do it in this absolutely beautiful set up, surrounded by the colours of a garden which grew many of the ingredients, and a kitchen that looked like a picture out of a book. The decor, the cuisine, the atmosphere and most importantly the manner in which the children will spoken to ,the humour that was thrown in, and the way that the kids were taught how to make their own pastas and pizzas and cupcakes ,not just by mixing things together but by learning where each ingredient came from made it an absolutely wonderful experience, one that I am grateful to Sarabjit and the studio for giving my daughter and her friends.
