China Pearl — Restaurant in Bengaluru

Unfortunately, my friend and I had an extremely unpleasant experience at China Pearl in HRBR Layout, right from the moment we arrived. Initially, my friend attempted to park his scooter in a spot that seemed appropriate, but the China Pearl valet insisted on a different, much narrower spot where parking the scooter was not at all possible. Despite our requests for assistance in moving other vehicles to create space, the valet adamantly refused to help.

What made matters worse was the valet's unprofessional behavior, as he not only repeated his refusal but also became personally confrontational, questioning our education and displaying a rude and arrogant demeanor. Shockingly, the other staff members present did not intervene or address the escalating situation in any meaningful way.

Our frustration grew when we attempted to contact a superior at the restaurant using the provided online number, only to encounter a constantly engaged line. Eventually, we had to reach out to another branch of China Pearl to obtain the manager's contact information.

Upon speaking with the manager, we appreciated his polite demeanor; however, we are unsure if any disciplinary action was taken against the valet for his unacceptable behavior. Regrettably, due to this negative encounter right at the entrance of the restaurant, we were left with no desire to dine there. I had been there for dinner with my friends. This restaurant was recommended by one of my friend. This is a beautiful restaurant. I liked the exterior and interior, they have diligently used red colour which is auspicious in Chinese culture. The artifacts & paintings go quite well with the restaurant’s overall theme. The seating is perfectly planned for various group like 2 people, 4 people & more than 4 people.

I have started with Veg Tom Yam Soup which was OK in taste. In Starters I had ordered Curly Potato (Shredded potatoes tossed with green pepper and Chinese spices) & Shaolin Stick (Fried crispy veg sticks tossed with chilly garlic sauce). Shaolin Stick was recommended by my friend. Curly Potato was tangy and yummy! Shaolin Stick was also very good & yum!

In main course we had ordered Chilly Potatoes with gravy, Veg Lat Lo Chowmien & Veg Burnt Garlic Rice. Veg Lat Lo Chowmien, the noodles mixed with a gravy & this dish is one of their signature dishes. It was really good & tasty. Chill Potatoes with gravy was also good & yummy! The only disappointment was Veg Burnt Garlic Rice, I was expecting strong flavor of burnt & garlic rice. But it was on the mild side.
