I have been a regular visitor at Erivum Puliyum from almost the day they opened up. The food has consistently been great and tasty. They have a good variety of Kerala food and also nice meals, chatti choru and pothichoru.
The main issue I have found is their inability to retain their service staff. Since the beginning, they start with a waiter, and by the time they learn the menu and cousine to be capable enough to suggest or understand the order, we see that they have left and new staff has joined. On weekends , especially Sunday afternoon, we feel sad seeing the state of staff who are totally overworked, confused and overwhelmed. I really feel bad for the people working here as it seems that the management is not able to retain them even after learning their work. Another issue is the washbasin. From the day of inauguration one of the washbasin does not work. In my approximately 20 visits, it may have been only one or two times that both the washbasins worked and even then at very low water pressure. These are something simple to fix but ignored by the management. The experience of great food is ruined by the service and such small maintenance issues. My aunt and uncle had a terrible experience once when they visited and ordered Kerala meals and were told after 20 mins that it's not longer available and the waiter had forgotten to inform them. After that they never went back again. They maybe doing well due to the online orders but unless they retain their well trained staff the dining experience...
Read moreLast time, I had a very bad experience at this restaurant. We came with our family for lunch during the weekend, arriving early at 12:15 pm to avoid the rush at peak hours. We were the first family to reach there. After placing our orders, we waited for the food. After 30 minutes, I checked with the lady who took our order, and she mentioned it would take a few more minutes. However, after a waiting of 60 minutes, we finally received our first dish, "Chatti Chorru." The rice and curries were incredibly cold, and it was unclear what took them so long.
One person from the kitchen attempted to negotiate, but we rejected the cold food. They then offered Paalkappa, but after an hour of ordering, the lady informed us that fried rice was not available. Surprisingly, they had served Gobi Manchurian, which we ordered with fried rice. We pointed out the issue and requested them to take it away since we had no fried rice. Frustrated, we decided to cancel all our orders and paid only for the served food (Paalkappa).
None of the restaurant staff seemed bothered, except for the lady who took our order. She apologized multiple times, but there was no proper support to ensure timely delivery from the kitchen. The kitchen staff appeared busy fulfilling online orders. Disappointed, we decided not to visit this restaurant...

If you’re in the mood to spend ₹699 for a masterclass in how not to cook Kerala food, Erivum Puliyum is your place.
Let’s start with the Kerala Porotta – or should I say, paper-thin cardboard disguised as food? I’ve seen tissue paper with more layers. At ₹26 per piece, it’s a solid scam. You could get better porottas from a roadside stall… blindfolded.
Now, the Erachi Roast – oh boy. Whoever decided meat should taste like dessert deserves an award in culinary confusion. Sweet roast? Really? Was this a prank or just a recipe gone horribly wrong?
The Erachi Dry Fry was mediocre at best – but after the first two items, I guess that felt like a relief.
Overall, a spectacular way to waste your money on underwhelming, overpriced food. If robbery had a restaurant, this would be it. If you’re thinking of ordering – don’t. Your wallet and taste buds...
