The very name "Little Italy" evoked a mixed response from team members while debating on a restaurant for team lunch..As it was a Friday and considering we had to return back early, we started from office ensuring tables for buffet lunch were reserved in advance us a couple of hours before leaving office.
It was a short ride of about 15-20min..On reaching the restaurant, we came to know that parking had to be done on a vacant land on the side road (so no covered parking)..At the entrance to the restaurant, we found there was no ramp along side the steps for customers who were on a wheelchair, so a few of us helped our team member who was on a wheelchair over flight of steps onto the lift (same while returning). It would be good if restaurants started providing ramp for customers on wheelchair..
On entering, we werea asked to move to buffet area where tables were reserved earlier..each of tables reserved could seat only 4 people, as there were 12 of us, we requested them to join the tables, which the staff obliged
The staff at this restaurant were very courteous and ensured good service all throughout our lunch there ( we finished lunch in little over an hour)
At the start, we were offered juice - watermelon and another fruit (canned)..opted for watermelon juice which was fresh and tasted nice (not sugary or having some artificial sweetener taste)
After the starters which were breads, soups, bruschetta, caprese, salsa, pale( thin marinated potato slices) etc..we could order Pasta variants which were made in front of us..they would serve at table..followed by Risoto, Lasagna and Pizzas..all vegetarian..
For desserts, many of the so called items that you hear on MasterChef such as Pannacotta, Tiramisu, Semifroddo, Mousse, cheesecakes..to name a few were on Menu..
It was a different experience having food..one of the members pointed out it was creamy, cheese based lunch..all of it was fresh and tasted good..even the non vegetarians in the group liked the food, all though they still felt the restaurant could have provided non vegetarian options as well..
The restaurant has both options - A la carte and Buffet..All of the food that was on menu was "completely vegetarian" and even the desserts were made without eggs!!..checked this with staff
For diners who want a change of cuisine, do go ahead and try buffet at this place..it definitely is a nice change from so called Absolute Barbecues' and...
Read moretldr; hygiene
We went to Little Italy on Saturday afternoon around 12:30 PM. There was no water in restroom sink. Staff apologised and initially they picked regular drinking water jugs to be used for washing hands. And most of them didn't see problem with that.
Then there was a bucket kept close to the commode, almost touching it and they filled a mug lying in bucket to wash my 6 year old daughter's hands. I objected and tried to reason, nobody understood my point. My concern was same bucket and mug could be used for other purposes especially when it is kept so close to commod (I think most of the readers understand my concern here).
After this my only concern was hygiene. Are cooks and kitchen staff washing their hands? Are vegetables being washed? Surprisingly none of the staff understood my concern. They said sorry it happened just now and water will come soon and we have very good hygiene standards.
I asked them can look their kitchen, even from outside. They said it is against our policy. I said if water not coming is an exception then why not you make me checking kitchen an exception. I was ready to wash my hand, use sanitizers, put cap masks anything. They didn't understand, didn't agree and were super rude.
Before you discard my review as coming from a hygiene fanatic. I am ok with road side food and eat in dirty plates. But I am not ok with poor hygiene when I am paying so much money for buffet. Especially when there are so many other good Italian places around in...
Read morePathetic service and very cost cutting type of food. We opted for buffet upon the recommendation of the waiter and manager. We wanted to try out the ala carte options but they recommended to go for buffet as that will cover a set menu of items with your choices of pizza and pasta. As we were first timers we went with their recommendation. BIG MISTAKE. Who recommends to opt out Ala carte? That was the first red flag. The cheese sauce nachos were only 6 pieces per plate without any toppings. Just a couple of capsicums cut into 2cm pieces and some cheese sauce on top. Whereas the same item in ala carte (on another table) was served with beans and other vegetable toppings and it looked very filling and colourful. They said buffet items are unlimited but the quality was so poor that you wouldn’t even want to order another plate of the same dish. We ordered pizza and that also they got 6inches only saying thay the dough for the larger inch pizza got OVER! I mean isn’t the dough meant to be the same for a 6inch or an eight inch or a 10 inch pizza?! The air conditioning was also off, staff was very limited and the entire experience felt extremely disappointing given that it was our first time trying out this restaurant and on the special occasion of my husband’s birthday. Never recommending this place to anyone and not even thinking of visiting this place ever again. They will serve food as if there’s bare minimum stock in...
