Went to Hitchki today for a team lunch and what a catastrophe it was. First they had put all tables in a straight line expecting 20+ folks to sit in a line with no way to get out.
Then came the drinks option. Only options are guava juice, watermelon juice, mango juice besides soft drinks i.e. coke and sprite at "room temperature". Not even a beer in options.
Then came starters which were 3 veg and 3 nonveg options. In veg , first was cheese balls which were clearly frozen and then just deep fried. The cheese at the core was rock solid and pretty cold. Next was spring roll with the same description i.e. surface was fried and the vegetables within were cold. Finally hars bhara kabab which was the only one which I believe was not kept frozen and just fried before serving. Non veg was even better. First came chicken lollipop, 4 pieces for 3 people. The next serving came like 10-15 mins later after rounds of request. Even the 3rd serving was the same so we asked what were the other 2 options, the answer was chicken tikka and fish finger. Great, get them quick please. Another 10-15 mins, chicken tikka came with top side as warm and bottom totally cold. They didn't even care to flip the chicken on both sides on the grill before serving. So straightaway asked for the fish and boy what a wait it was. Veg folks went for their main course as almost 1.5 hours had passed. They got noodles and veg manchurian and we waited for our fish fingers. Finally it came and it was all bread deep fried and almost no fish. Felt like deep fried batter coated bread.
As roti and chola had come so we too moved for main course. There were 2 non veg curries and biryani. The curries was practically the same tikka , with one served as butter masala and other served as kadhai. Another good up was they kept the chicken butter masala next to paneer butter masala and some veg folks picked it up and was later discovered in their plate. They simply stopped eating then and there. For myself the biryani came and was quickly distributed within the early folks. So had a roti with some gravy as didn't want to wait any longer and wanted to end this agony quickly. Finally came plain vanilla ice cream and a dessert named "maang bharo sajna" which was a poor version of kubani ka meetha i.e fried bread soaked in syrup with a little topping of rabri. Just had the ice cream and left the place. Surely will never...
