A while back, I was craving for some flavourful, rich Mughlai style food and came across Masala Mandi. Immediately the very next day I visited it along with my friend to try out their royal buffet.
The ambience is really fit for royals. Their choice of royal blue coloured seating and table mats in contrast to the copper vessels add a certain grandness to the place. The outdoor swing seating is my favourite and we decided to be seated there. The royal ambience, impeccable service, courteous, friendly staff are just an add on to the delicious food at Masala Mandi, loaded with layers of flavours from whole spices, true to it’s name. Another thing I noticed and really do appreciate is the fact that everything was ecofriendly. We tried two amazing mocktails- Indian Spicy and Pineapple tricks which were both served in the fruit itself with a bamboo straw. That’s completely biodegradable. Also, the chaats were served in leaf bowls.
We started off with the chaats from the live chaat counter. An array of different chaats like dahi bhalla, sev puri, papdi chaat, Ram laddoo, pani puri and kachori chaat were excellently prepared with right balance of sweet, sour and spice. The meal was off to a great start.
The live grills were scrumptious, both veg and non veg. I particularly relished the paneer tikka, malai broccoli and the mushroom galawat while my non vegetarian friend thoroughly enjoyed the fish, chicken and grilled prawns. The cream of mushroom soup was warm and comforting, my friend found the Badami murg shorba really delicious too.
The main course is something that is going to make your day because it was heavenly. The dal masala mandi which is essentially dal makhni will blow your socks off. It’s sinful and lip smacking. Also, the veg biryani tasted exactly like how a biryani should, the spice builds up as you eat more and the dum flavour really comes through. Loved it. Even the lehsooni dal and other gravies like dum aloo and kadai paneer were exceptional. Full of flavour and richness. Again, non veg was outstanding.
They also have a wide range of desserts, kulfis and paans to choose from. I enjoyed the soft gulab jamun, shahi tukda and kulfi a lot. The fire paan was something I tried for the first time and it was an amalgamation of hot and cold sensations with the taste of regular paan.
A special mention to Mr. Bharath and Dalou who took care of us. Dalou is an amazing service staff, he is so humble and serves you with a smile. He keeps checking on you if you need anything and also explains the dishes to you. The whole team at Masala Mandi is great,...
Read moreMasala Mandi is the must try buffet place in Sarjapur!! The first thing which you see as soon as you enter the place is a small fountain, followed by beautiful blue theme of the restaurant. Food kept in big copper vessels gives a royal touch the place. I can't wait to take my family to this place. They have hanging chairs in one of the areas, for you which you will be needing a reservation.
Talking about the food: Drink: We were welcomed by a refreshing drink, which was so good that we tried multiple mock tails from the place, my personal fav was cucumber tricks. Very refreshing drink made with fresh cucumber.
Dragon tricks: for all the jamun lovers Mango mariana: A mango icecream float drink
Starters: MUST TRY Malai paneer : one of the best malai paneers i have ever had. Ask for the extra malai if you are a fan of this dish. The cottage cheese was so soft and the consistency of the cream was just amazing.
Dahi k kabab was super sweet, and needs a little improvement.
Makai cheese rolls : Not very oily, fll of cheese and lovely to have in the starters.
Mutton Seekh kabab : This was again very delicious
other starters which i tried were lehsooni jhinga, peshawari moorgh tikka. Surprisingly i was repeating veg starters more than the non veg ones. You will get grill at your table and multiple options to choose from.
CHaat corner: They have a dedicated area for the chaats, dont forget to try your favorite chaats from the area. They have kachodi chaat, tikki chaat, kachori poori etc and everything was drool worthty.
People on diet : They again have a dedicated salad counter, so don't be aftaid and visit them :)
Main course: If you have been to a north indian wedding, you are going to et the same flavors over here. What an amazing platter.
I loved the mixed vegetable, kadhi pakode, pind de chole in vegetarian items. We ordered a bread basket and had kulcha and garlic naan.
in non veg chicken butter masala and garlic naan was my favorite.
Desserts :
Hot Gulab Jamun : I clubbed the same with some kulfi and the experience was just amazing Shahi Tukda: Very crisp and perfectly sweetened. Add rabri to the same and enjoy the best closure Malai roll : Was dissapointed with this dish, as in place of malai, i saw bread was used, which really ruined it Rasmalai : Very watery, needs lot of improvement Kulfi: The kulfis over here are just amazing, customize it with gulkand, cherry etc and just feel the best ending :)
Summarizing this is one buffet place which you will wish to visit again and again.
All the best team...
Read moreRoyalty meets food here! New buffet address on Sarjapur Road, they swear by perfection over quantity. A very pretty place, they have put lot of thought in the ambience. Tables are placed nicely so that it doesn't feel cramped up. They have small outside seating as well with swings. The aura is royal, with their cutlery matching the theme. Coming to food, they have a decent spread. There is barbecue as well. There are 4 veg and 4 non veg starters on the barbecue. All of them were tasty and succulent. I especially enjoyed the pineapple. Apart from barbecue, they have couple of options in kebabs as well. There is a separate chaat counter which has bhelpuri, pani puri, sev puri, dahi puri and dahi bhalla. Dahi puri specifically is awesome. Coming to main course, they have 3-4 curries options in both veg and non veg. There is biryani as well. In breads, they serve naan, kulcha and tandoori roti. They have a selection of salads as well. Curries were nice, I loved the butter chicken and kadhi. Breads are freshly made and soft. Biryani is good. In desserts they have assorted dry Indian mithai, rabri, shahi tukda, gulab jamun, ras malai, fresh fruits etc. They have kulfi and ice cream counter as well. I was amazed by their rabri. One of the best I have tasted in Bangalore. They also have yummy mocktails in the menu. You can finish of amazing meal with your choice of pan at Panwadi. I have even tried food delivery from here. The food comes fresh and hot in well sealed containers without any spills. Not very hard on pockets, this place is here to stay. Their concept of focussing on one kind of cuisine and giving priority to quality over quantity makes them different from other buffet places. They are doing everything right and I hope they continue this way. Their staff is very cordial. They make you feel welcomed and comfortable. This place makes a good visit for corporates, families, friends. It has something for everyone. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and will definitely recommend it to treat yourself to some lip-smacking...
