Had a horrible experience at the restaurant yesterday. We had pre-booked a table for 4 people for 1 pm through Dineout and had a confirmed booking. On going to the restaurant, we were asked to wait for 15 mins, as a table was getting ready. The hostess at the reception also pointed at the outdoor table which we would be given. There was an office lunch happening in the indoor area at the same time. We had come in between our office hours for a quick lunch and hence had made the reservation beforehand. After waiting for 15-20 mins, the manager BHUVAN came out and VERY RUDELY informed and dismissed us saying that they need the outdoor tables for the office event and asked us to RUDELY leave. He was not apologetic and was DOWNRIGHT ILL-MANNERED and he behaved OBNOXIOUSLY. Would want to highlight a few points here -
Leap of faith paid off 😜!!
A not so busy Friday evening in Bay post the Karnataka Bandh !!
We were headed to Nasi & Mee for our (always a safe bet)Asian dinner when my wife was requested to Try Kampot by Bhuvan was wan manning the reception of the restaurant. He was extremely kind and sweet in his approach while requesting a try mentioning that the chefs from Mainland China to which it rang a bell 🛎️. My wife asked which mainland China and Bhuvan mentioned Kolkata 👀 which got us more interested. She waited by the time I caught up and mentioned it to me to check if we should consider a new pit stop other than Nasi & Mee. I spoke with Bhuvan who then call Chef Ranjeet from the kitchen and in a jiffy he was able to rattle out familiar dishes from the iconic Gurusaday Road Mainland China which has been an iconic restaurant in kolkata. This gave us the confidence to try out Kampot and must I say it was a great decision.
Chef Ranjeet himself took our order for a few specialities we used to have have in mainland China ( Konjee Crispy Lamb / Crispy chili Fish / Butter Garlic Fried rice / Chilli Garlic Noodles / a Prawn main course he belted for us) and must I say each dish which came to the table just took us back in time and I must confess were sumptuous and just perfect to the T.
Kudos to chef Ranjeet as well as the service Personel Mayadhar who was waiting our table made the dinner experience a WOW 🤩 experience.
Needless to say we will be back at Kampot again and I must don’t always judge the book by its cover. Honestly I am guilty of it as in the last few months we saw this restaurant time and again but never ventured to try it as we hardly saw anyone inside it.
Thanks team Kampot and we will se you again soon !!
Keep up the quality of food and service.
Chef Ranjeet ur the ⭐️ of the...
Read moreHi, I recently visited your restaurant with a friend because we saw online that you offer gluten-free options. My friend has a severe gluten allergy, so we decided to give it a try. However, our experience was quite disappointing and did not meet expectations.
The server seemed unfamiliar with gluten-related health concerns. It was clear that they did not fully understand the seriousness of gluten allergies, which can have severe health consequences. When we asked for more detailed information, the server was unable to provide sufficient answers. We then asked to speak with the chef, but the server informed us that the chef was unavailable. Concerned about ingredients that commonly contain gluten, such as soy sauce and vinegar, we inquired further. The server said they use “cucumber soy sauce,” which caused confusion. Upon clarification, it turned out they meant Kikkoman soy sauce, but they didnt clarify if it’s glutenfree or not. The server’s casual and dismissive attitude, along with the refusal to let us speak to the cook, led us to leave without feeling confident about the food’s safety.
Feedback:
If you claim to provide gluten-free options, it’s crucial that both your staff and management are properly educated about gluten and other allergens. Staff should be well-informed about ingredients and able to answer questions accurately to prevent health risks. Gluten allergies are serious medical conditions, and diners with these concerns ask specific questions to protect their health. It’s essential that staff take these concerns seriously rather than treating them dismissively.
Please consider training your staff and handling allergy-related inquiries with the same thoroughness and care that other restaurants, such as Punjab Grill and Go Native,...
