A virtual oasis in the middle of Bellandur. This is more of a bird sanctuary than a properly designed walking path like some of the other lakes in Bangalore.
It has three entrances, one from Bellandur side, another from Eco-world and a third from Sarjapur road. It’s not very easily accessible. Better bring a scooter along!
The walking path itself is not very well maintained and has a bit of a terrain to it. Some dredging work is also going on to prepare for the monsoon so a part of the lake has a dusty, sandy trail. Be ready to walk out with completely mud-laden footwear!
Not many people come here for walks so it’s much less crowded than the nearby located Kaikondrahalli lake, which has a much nicer walkway. Since it’s away from the bustle of Bangalore traffic, you can still here the chirping of the birds early in the morning.
The major attraction of this place is the abundance of bird population. Place draws a lot of amateur photographers as the diversity of water bird species found here is astounding.
There are no benches to sit and no public toilets nearby as well. It’s as rough as it gets.
Still the best place to walk for true...
Read moreSaul Kere lake is mostly covered in grass. There is a good gravel walkway around the lake, good for walking, jogging and trekking. The walkway is covered all around with nice trees and plants (walking trail distance about 2.1km) Compared to other lakes, Saul Kere has more plants around it. The lake is hemmed in my buildings all around. The water quality seems bad, and seems raw sewage finds it way in the swampish lake. However the grass on the lakes helps to cover it up. Water level also seems low. Birds seen : Brahminy Kite, Spotted Dove, Heron, Swap Hens .. pack of dogs also found, so be careful in venturing into the thick tree covered foresty areas .. Overall less crowd, calm and peaceful, worth a walk around it. Clearing up the grass, deepening the lake and filtering the raw sewage will help in further improving...
Read moreA hidden Green Heaven in between this metro chaos!!! I have never even thought of a place like this would ever exist while passing through Bellandur via Outer Ring Road many a times. In between of such a vast concrete ecosystem of Buildings, flats , houses finding a Natural Ecosystem like this is really unbelievable. If the images I have uploaded have captured details properly then you could see cattles grazing , even lot variety of birds are there and I could see people catching fishes also. Am working from Accenture Bang7 building and this sight is a delight for my eyes and mind whenever I need a break. I hope and wish this would be preserved like...
