Heard great feedback, so we decided to get lunch on a Sunday. Arrived really early but we were told best seats were already reserved. Not a very welcoming frontdesk staff. Anyways, if you have kids, don't go with the counter seating, a table seating would be a better choice. Maybe this concept works elsewhere but not recommended with kids here. Anyways, menu, as usual have to be scanned & viewed on mobile but the net was so bad on this day, we lost a lot a time downloading a 46-page menu. The initial 50% of the menu is all about liquid food (mocktail, cocktail, etc, etc). Then when we started placing the order, it was so confusing, if you aren't big on japanese food, the seek help. However, help wasn't so good as not all staff could explain what comprised of each dish. So we did a random order of different dishes on the menu. I would say the food was great but service was extremely bad. Each dish needed multiple reminders and follow-ups and they even messed up the order. Starters came later which we ordered first and parts of main course started coming first. I felt the quantity was so insufficient. I tried to tell my self that the ingredients have to travel from Japan hence it was reduced because japanese food, I always thought, was always served in abundant quantity 😅. Anyway for the $$$$$ price you pay, quantity is less, taste is excellent, ambiance is great, location is very good, hospitality is ok-ok, but service was pathetic and they even apologized for the poor service but they did not reduce anything on the exorbitant service charge added to the bill. I felt this was just an unlucky day at 'Lucky Chan'. So hope to visit again and experience the awesome feedback that others have...
Read moreAmbiance: Lucky Chan offers a pleasant ambiance with 90s English soft pop music playing in the background, creating a nostalgic and relaxing atmosphere. The restaurant is well-decorated and provides adequate parking space, which is a plus.
Food: The menu features a variety of dishes, but our experience was mixed. We ordered the Vegetarian Crystal Dumplings (steamed), Ginger Garlic Noodle Soup, Jasmine Pearls Tea, and Thai Yellow Curry (vegetarian). The Ginger Garlic Noodle Soup and Thai Yellow Curry were enjoyable, although the curry was slightly salty.
Unfortunately, the Vegetarian Crystal Dumplings were oily, and the Chicken in Butter Sauce Dumplings contained bone pieces, making them inedible. The taste of the chicken dumplings was also off-putting. On a positive note, the restaurant did not charge us for the chicken dumplings.
Service: The wait staff were friendly but the service speed needs improvement. We were disappointed that no separate sauce was provided for the vegetarian dumplings, and our request for sauce was denied. Additionally, we had to instruct the staff not to charge the 10% service charge, which they obliged.
Value: The pricing is on the higher side, which might not be justified given the mixed quality of the food and the service issues. It would be beneficial for the management to validate the parking for customers.
Overall Experience: While the ambiance and some dishes were enjoyable, the overall dining experience was average. The issues with the food quality and service detracted from our visit. Given these factors, I would not return to this...
Read moreThis is my second visit to Lucky chan and with a good gap of 10 months setting both the visits apart. They have been consistent with both the amazing taste, quality of food and more importantly, the hospitality. Hospitality stood out for me. In both of our visits, the staff were very observant of our needs and immediately attended to it, even without our asking.
Yesterday, their coolers wasn’t working and when we inquired about the same, they told the same. After sometime, they brought a battery operated fan to our table (again, we didn’t ask for it, but they understood that we were feeling hot and got it).
They are very helpful with their food and beverage recommendations.
I loved their lotus biscoff bubble tea, the avocado sushi, and the udon noodles. Loved their cream corn soup and jasmine rice too. We were very hesitant to try out any deserts but their staff recommended the darsan with honey sesame noodles, and it was yummy too.
Ambience is soothing and appealing too. Loved the music that was being played too.
Would love to visit again, and will definitely recommend this place to all those who...
