Very Disappointing Experience – Would Not Recommend
I recently had one of the most disappointing food experiences with Shezan Restaurant. I ordered mutton biryani through Swiggy, expecting a decent meal, but what we received was far from acceptable. The moment we opened the box, a strong, unpleasant smell came from both the rice and the mutton — clearly indicating that the ingredients were not fresh. The rice smelled like it had been cooked the previous day, and the meat had the foul odor of old, stale mutton.
On top of that, the biryani was completely bland. There was no proper seasoning or flavor — just dry rice and chunks of smelly meat with zero taste. The overall dish was so bad that none of us could even eat a single bite. We had to throw the entire order away, which was extremely frustrating and disappointing.
To make matters worse, when we called the restaurant to report the issue, the person who answered the phone was extremely rude and dismissive. There was no sense of customer service or basic courtesy. Instead of listening to our complaint or acknowledging the problem, they spoke in a disrespectful tone and outright refused to take any responsibility. Initially, they said they would refund our money, but when we followed up again, they changed their statement and said they wouldn’t provide a refund or even a replacement.
This level of service is completely unacceptable. A restaurant that talks big about its quality should at least be willing to stand by its food and treat its customers with respect — but Shezan failed on both fronts. It seems like they treat online customers as less important and are okay with sending out stale, low-quality food as long as they don’t have to deal with the customer face-to-face.
Shezan needs to understand that customers are not doing them a favor — it’s the other way around. Their arrogant behavior and lack of accountability speak volumes about their priorities. Based on this experience, I would strongly advise others to avoid ordering from here. This was not just bad food — it was a complete lack of respect for the customer.
I will never order from Shezan again and definitely don’t recommend it to anyone looking for quality food or good service. Extremely...
Read moreSurprisingly good!! This is quite an old establishment, and a small and cozy place to enjoy some delicious non veg food. They also have a variety of vegetarian options, but the specialties really are heavily around non veg.
The food is amazing! The place offers a variety of options from Chinese to Mughal to Indian and even sandwiches and burgers but the highlight really are the house specialities. The mutton haleem (apparently it’s prepared throughout the year here) is absolutely stunning and perfectly prepared! The Nalli mutton was the best ever, perfectly prepared with meat that melts in your mouth! It’s served with warm bread (roti styled) and goes really well with the dish. I did wish that the Nalli (bone marrow) was a bit more wholesome but it was more of a thinner shank piece. Nonetheless, the dish is amazing and a must try! The beef tawa fry is one starter I wouldn’t want you to miss out on!! It’s tender, perfectly cooked and the taste is mind blowing! You will be left asking for more… The mutton chops are bafflingly good too!!! The mutton biryani too was delicious and filling! I also enjoyed the beef burger (Philly open burger) that’s served with fries and the sheer quantity and texture of the meat along with the sauce made it a perfect dish to dig into!
That’s not all.. the steaks!!! OMG!!! I think it’s best you try them yourself.
We did not try the fish, but they also have desserts - the mud cake , cheesecake and Kulfi amongst other limited choices which provide a perfect closure for the food enjoyed that’s fit for kings.
The pricing is also reasonable, and for the quantity and quality of the food, coupled with great customer service, it’s worth every penny!
The interiors are simple - it’s not a large place - but well arranged seating and comfortable sized tables and chairs with mild lighting and quiet atmosphere making it a lovely place for dining with family and friends. The service too is quite quick and the waiters are friendly and courteous. Overall, a lovely place to come out and enjoy delicious cuisine over fun conversations. It’s also surely a place you will want to visit over and over again…
PS: Depending on the time, esp for dinner, the place can get crowded and you may need to wait...
Read moreShezan - Is this the best place for steak in the town?
Perhaps a hidden gem for the googler crowd, we found this restaurant from a quora and reddit thread. We were clearly told on the forums that you have to ask for the real deal and the owner, Mr. Altaf will take care personally. Well, with high hopes we travelled to this place and boy, what an evening we had.
We didn't eat much. We were very clear, we wanted proteins. So right away Mr. Altaf suggested a supreme steak with some garlic bread. When we said we wanted it medium rare, the gentleman got really happy, appreciated our choice and asked us not to order anything right away, rather to taste the steak.
Well, all we can say is we have hit the jackpot of steaks!! Juicy, crisp and charred on the outside, pink and juicy inside - this steak was everything we ever wanted. Paired with the mashed potato and the meat juices (yes, well rested steak my dear sirs/madams), it was heaven in our mouth.
We then tried the batter fried fish , london style. Again a stunner!! This big a fry with that fat a fillet is kind of unheard of for a mere 250-300 odd price in Bengaluru, atleast for us. But we wanted more of the steak.
So mr altaf suggested another good dry aged steak - newyork style. This smokey one resembled the bbq style meat served in US, but without the meat being doused in tons of some sauce, the served meat was a polished gem of marinated meat beautifully seared on the pan and served perfectly juicy.
The whole time Mr. Altaf personally attended to us, checked on whether we liked the food.
While some think it's intrusive, it's actually not, it's only the perfect amount of presence of the host that results in better selection of dishes.
Overall, we as a couple enjoyed the time, the food, the ambience and overall experience.
So next time when you are in search of steaks, looking for some REAL DEAL, FORGET the pretentious eateries doling out some meat doused with sauces and head to shezan, ask for a good meaty hearty steak and go...
