This legendary eatery is quite famous and has its special place among historical eateries of the old Bengaluru region. Though I have visited many replicas of this restaurant before, very recently I was able to visit this origin place.
The restaurant is located in a narrow street of Cubbonpet. Google Maps can help you to locate this place precisely. The ambience inside is very basic but the cleanliness is maintained well. They have aligned some benches around but the majority of people liked to stand and eat in the open space. They have a small serving area in front of the kitchen area. Overall the space management is good to handle the weekend crowd.
The service is really humble. I loved the way they communicate patiently and enjoy the serving procedure. They keep humming the bajans (devotional songs) playing in the background and never miss any customer's order. Indeed it's a refreshing service experience.
I started with Sabbakki Masale Dose which was really good. It had a unique texture with the right balance of crisp and softness. Gatti Chutney complimented the Dose very well. However, I felt Aloo palya was too much for the size of the dose. Pulav was definitely a star dish here. They use various quality spices which stick in your breath for a long duration. The level of spiciness usually will be moderately high. So, just be prepared to experience light burn in your chest afterwards. The watery chutney served with Pulav makes a good combination.
They do not accept cards but they accept UPI payments. They do have a hand wash area but there is no soap dispenser. They serve food on disposable paper plates and don't expect spoons.
I really loved this place and would highly recommend for everyone to try it at least once for its heritage...
Read moreI found SLN hotel through online and decided to visit with my friend. This eatery is right behind Vaibhav stores (S.P Road). Parking at your risk. Three stools have been placed inside the hotel. Apart from this, there no other arrangements, as it’s kind of fast food eatery.
We were quite late on Sunday, so we got to savour sabaki dose, plain dose, bath, ghee masale dose & sabaki masale dose. They also prepare, idli, sabaki idli, Upma & lemon rice.
Sabaki dose texture and taste was out of the world. They give two dose with ample of chutney. Sabaki or Sabsige flavour was dominant. Colour of dose will be slight green, because of sabsige. Ghee sticks to your fingers in every bite of dose.
Plain dose, Ghee masale dose & Sabaki masale dose texture were crisp. Aloo masale stuffed in dose was mushy and spicy too. Red Chutney spread inside the dose was tart in taste.
Bath or Rice was great. It was served with chutney. Vangi & peas were enriching the flavour of rice. I just felt to add ghee to this rice, Oh my god I couldn’t believe taste turned out to be mouth watering. If any one tries bath, request the service person to pour some ghee and you will certainly find the richness in taste.
Best part of this eatery is, they serve for school children at Rs.15 and for elderly people at Rs.20 (no parcel/takeaway) for this price.
So far, a best eatery with no hole to your pocket in heart of the Bengaluru city.
As this place is tiny, you might not see temperature checking and not all customers wearing mask. So, if you feel safe, kindly visit.

Read moreI've eaten sln mudanna pulav in gandhibazar so I decided to go to their main branch and try their pulav. First and foremost do not go here in cars. Either use bikes or auto and go before 10 o 11 o clock especially on weekends. Secondly coming to their pulav which was so piping hot and scrumptious 😋 And i tried the dose. I was quite disappointed with this cuz it was very sour and later i realized it was the red chutney in it and it was so sour that it masked the taste of dose. Palak dose tasted okay but it was soggy, Masala dose was crispy and okay but i will not say it was one of the Best dose I've tasted cuz I've tasted better dosas. I tried asking them if it was supposed to taste like that while i was leaving and they said NO, there could be some problem and they'll try to ask the chef. I will go again and recommend for their pulav definitely. What adds more brownie points ❤️ is their service. No matter how many people are there or how crowded it is, they try to do their job with a smile on their face. They even ask you to pay later if you don't have enough cash. And they've increased their prices by 10 bucks after 10 years which was...
