Updated after a visit in the morning hours on a weekend with nice scope for the mosquito menace of evenings:
Much better experience with no stinging mosquitoes due to visiting early morning. Food tasted good this time around.
This time the service felt stretched though. There were people in a table screaming at a hapless looking waiter for brighting them French toast when they asked for bread omelette - another waiter took and the table was at pains to explain that they needed egg omelette with 2 slices of bread.
There was no time for the waiter to bring the bill with all the customers around and so had to go to the counter. The person in front turned back with a credit card slip; I opened my purse and could see the lady at the counter peering into it. When I gave her the credit card she said the machine is down; please give cash or gpay.
Overall a rough place still and good for those willing to jostle and hustle it out for good food that's available elsewhere too easily.
Hence increasing the rating for food and decreasing for service. Overall still a so-so place. .............. Went in the evening and thenplace was teeming with mosquitoes. We weren't sure how people managed to sit there! Regretted the trip to t-hut later too after the numerous mosquito bites reminded us of trauma we faced. The food was okay - nothing exceptional compared to the typical Malayalee cuisine you get at many places in and around. Also, the chilly levels were too high for our taste and it wasn't that the spices were flavourful either. Tawoon, Aatuthèeram and thalassery kitchen nearby serve much better fare, in that order. And Kaipunyam on brigade road as the benchmark against any of these. Service was good: waiters were eager to please and I was wondering whether it's to do with their awareness of the mosquito menace. I'm still perplexed how they manage to run the restaurant and there are non-plusses ablut doing something to limit the mosquitoes in rhe dining area. Overall, a place will never go to again or recommend to...
Read moreI decided to visit T Hut with my family for evening tea and snacks after seeing positive reviews on Google and Instagram, especially from influencers. We traveled 12 kilometers to reach there, only to be completely disappointed.
As a Malayalee who loves authentic Kerala cuisine, I thought T Hut would be the perfect place. However, when I arrived, I was greeted by an unkempt and unclean space. The restaurant tries to showcase a Kerala vibe with its old-style benches and stools, but unfortunately, nothing can impress if the place isn’t well-maintained.
I decided to overlook the poor ambiance and placed my order, only to find out that by 4 PM, there were hardly any snacks available. They only had appam, porotta, biryani, and a few curries. The porotta didn’t resemble authentic Kerala porotta at all and tasted like a very average version. The chicken roast was below average, and while the egg roast was somewhat better, it still wasn’t great. The appam was the worst part—if there was even one Kerala cook in the kitchen, this wouldn’t have happened. The appam tasted awful, and it made me question whether they had anyone with authentic Kerala cooking experience.
Overall, the food was below average and completely failed to live up to the expectations of real Kerala cuisine. T Hut is trying to project a Malayali vibe but is falling short in every aspect. As a proud Malayali, I’m telling everyone: this is not Kerala food, and it’s definitely not how it should taste. I hope T Hut takes this feedback positively and...
Read moreWe came to try Biryani here. We tried mutton biryani and prawns biryani. For me, Mutton Biryani was really good. Mutton was very soft and tender, but we had to find prawns in the heap biryani rice.
Biryani here is a little bit different. It looks very plain and dull, but somewhat it tastes better than how it looks. They told us that it's Kerela type biryani.
We also tried chicken roasted, but it came with gravey. The taste was ordinary, nothing special.
We tried coffee as well, which was also very normal.
They also had different sections for the quick snacks, which are similar to typical south Indian dishes.
Staff seems to be not focused. They were gathering in one place and were not listening when I was calling them. In fact, I wanted to request them to remove plates from the table. Finally, one kind lady helped me to get the help of their staff.
Above everything else, their ambiance is too good. It is designed in a traditional hut type. Even their interior looks very much like olden rural Indian houses.
I didn't see many people here eating the main course, but most of them were having tea, coffee, and snacks. If it is so, then this restaurant is not mainly for the main course.
Overall, I had a good experience here in this restaurant. Next time, I visit this restaurant, I would like to go for tea and not...
