Read moreA couple of us visited the kabab studio for dinner. First I would like to point out that they have a Grand Trunk Road food festival happening. This goes on till the 25th of November.
Ambience: Since there was a party happening we had seating in a room. But the overall ambience of the place is pretty funky. There are separate booths for sweets, chaats and more. The outside seating is pretty good too!
Food & drinks: Initially we had a couple of chaats. To start off, we had the sev poori and the Dahi poori. Being a chaat lover, I enjoyed them. I always thinks chaats should be a meal starter :P Moving on, we went ahead to the actual set of starters: Murgh Adraki Shorba - the broth in my opinion was a little too strong. The hit of masala in the initial couple of spoons is strong after which the shorba itself becomes comforting. Hara bhara kebab - I’ve had this in plenty of places, but this in my opinion was unique. The stuffing had extra flavour. I’m assuming a little curd was added too, (not sure) but that flavour stood out. And it is soft and perfect to munch on. Mithila ke machli - loved this one. Super soft, juicy fish, flavoured very well. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Then came the main course: Butter Chicken with stuffed naan - I liked the combo. Their bread basket is also made in a way that the breads don’t stuff you. Hence the sizes are smaller. The butter chicken could have been creamier. Chicken biryani - there were 2 variants to chicken biryani, one was minced chicken and the other had pieces. The flavour the rice had was perfect. It had the perfect amount of biryani masala and the chicken was marinated very well. I really liked the biryani. For me that was the best end to main course! From here we moved on to desserts. Most awaited part of my meal: Jalebi - ever since I saw the jalebi counter I was super tempted, and the jalebi’s are so crisp and gooey on the inside. I loved them. They melted in my house after the first bite. They’re not too sweet, just the way I love them. Chocolate rasgulla - Big fan of rasgulla’s. Instead of chashni they coat the rasgulla with chocolate syrup. Well, it’s rasgulla and chocolate, I had no complaints here. Kheer - this was highlight for me. The rice kheer that was served is by far one of the best kheers I’ve had. Consistency was perfect, not too thin or too thick. The kheer itself melts in your mouth. Loved it! ♥️ For drinks we had a couple of mock tails but the one that caught my attention was the Goli Soda. Brought back memories of growing up in Bangalore. The loved it. It was sweet and sour and everything that i hoped it’d be! (Long lost Goli soda love :P)
Service: They have plenty of live counters and since it’s a buffet you generally walk out to serve yourself. The starters are brought to the table. The same staff is polite for sure. They’re always around...
Read moreFirst of all, I am unsure why there are negative reviews for this wonderful place!
Having read a mix of good and bad reviews, we decided to try this place for ourselves, and we were simply surprised that there could be even a single negative review. To start with, the dhaniya shorba itself was so good that we couldn’t help ourselves but to enjoy a bowl full. It was made to perfection. We were served a small plate of chats on the table, which again was very well done.
Then began the starter service with a variety of kababs such as chicken, fish, mutton and prawns. The starters were excellent and true to their name. The only vegetarian option that we tried was the mushroom kebab since we were already overwhelmed with the non-vegetarian options.
Coming to the main course, there were a variety of side-dishes in both the sections from across the country with all the dishes cooked to perfection. The Banarasi murgh biryani was an absolute delight. I had not expected it to be that good, but it was. There were a few Chinese side dishes as well, but unless one has a humongous appetite, there is very little scope to have every possible item on the menu. The salad counter was delightful, but seriously who has the space for salads when you have so many amazing dishes to try out!
Lastly, the dessert counter was nothing less than overwhelming. The head chef recommended that we give the non-Indian desserts a skip and try the Kashi halwa. We took his recommendation seriously and we were not let down. There were many more options in the dessert section which would not leave you wanting for more. Our special thanks to Anjana, who took very good care of us and ensured that we had a great dinner.
We complimented the chefs for their dedication towards ensuring that the customers eat well. The head chef informed us that special care is taken every day to ensure that excess oil doesn’t go into the preparation so that their guests don’t feel uneasy after their meal. Although we ate very well, we felt absolutely no discomfort.
A small tip for those planning to visit this restaurant is that reaching on time gives you enough time to have a relaxed meal. This is a place meant to unwind and have an unhurried meal. The terrace seating option is also great but the indoor seating which is air-conditioned is more comfortable in my view. Once again, a huge thanks to the staff for all their efforts....
