First Look of The Tavern - the newest party destination in Kolkata.!
The gentle touch of the chilled glass of wine, the feel of metallic lights and the comfort of wooden floors, gentle retro music which doesn't hurt your ears; The Tavern is the newest entrant to the pub culture but not without making a difference of its own. Situated inside the very busy Globsyn Crystal Building in Sector V, the interior of this place has been designed keeping a mix of old vintage looks combined with the plush nuisances of modern glorifications.
Giving a nostalgic feeling of vintage lounges, the four corners are decked with animal sculptures decked on red brick walls. The pendant lights hanging from top lightens up the inside, with the massive bar enshrined with tall cushioned chairs. Taste traditional Indian dishes and exciting world cuisines in one of the traditional styled old sofas as you listen up to the slow music slowly building the ambiance and mood.

The welcoming gesture was good, however they couldn't uphold the same level of experience when it comes to service and food.
we ordered 2 different cocktail, was fantastic. along with that ordered 1 chilli chicken busket & 1 chicken quasidela.
🆘but we mentioned again and again to not to serve the chicken quasidela in rush. I requested them to let us finish Chilli chicken busket first then serve another, thinking about the preparation time of the dish , thought of ordering them together anyway.
but NO,....they served both of them toooooooo quickly and TOGETHER, which eventually led us to have cold and bad experience for chicken quasidela.
🆘The chilli chicken busket was filled with salt! it was tooooo salty. 🆘The chicken quasidela was not with ample amount of filling where it's price could have get some justice.
Then we ordered main course "Chicken do piyaza and Naan + kulcha" 🆘Same again, they literally microwaved some frozen leftover Chicken do piyaza from yesterday, We understand and could feel how it was served, cold from outside, burnt hot from inside. and the dish should be named as "Haddi do piyaza" because where was the chicken???????
and on top of that they did not have the platters which cover half of their menu card as starter / main course. this chicken do peyaza was not there in menu card. We were suggested this verbally and cost 446. wonder if they had given 46 rupees of effort in it?!!!!!!
Now talking about service, they did not bother to give the plates to each of us even, they literally just put 2 plates together and never came again.
and then they added service charges which eventually been removed once asked.
one thing was clear ,all their attention was towards the couple's and Big groups who attended. If I being asked to summarise the whole experience it should be "PATHETIC" & "HORRIBLE"

Rating: 0/5
We had the misfortune of hosting our corporate party at The Tavern on March 28, 2025, and it was an unmitigated disaster. The evening was a perfect storm of incompetence, with every aspect of the experience being utterly disappointing.
Ambience: 0/5 The ambiance was lackluster, but we were willing to overlook it if the food and service made up for it. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
Food Quality: 0/5 The food was a catastrophe. It was poorly cooked, tasteless, and overpriced. We were shocked at the sheer incompetence of the kitchen staff.
Service: 0/5 The service was abysmal. It was slow, disorganized, and completely unprofessional. Our guests were left waiting for food, and some even had to leave without eating despite having paid in full.
Behavior: 0/5 The staff seemed completely unbothered by the chaos they had created. They showed no urgency in addressing our concerns, and their attitude was dismissive and unprofessional.
Value: 0/5 Considering the subpar food, atrocious service, and unprofessional behavior, The Tavern is an absolute rip-off. We paid top dollar for a service that was woefully inadequate.
Overall Experience: 0/5 Our corporate party at The Tavern was an unmitigated disaster. The combination of terrible food, appalling service, and unprofessional behavior made for a night that was both embarrassing and frustrating. We strongly advise against hosting any events or even casual dinners at this establishment. The risk of disappointment is too high, and there are far better options available.
In conclusion, The Tavern is a complete and utter disaster. Avoid it...
