The land for the club was purchased from S.L. Ramaswamy Aiyer of Sulur on 25 July 1891. To an existing small shed, a clubhouse, a billiards room, card rooms and tennis courts were added. The front Porch was called Verandah club. A large tree in the vicity was main meeting place of its members’ also called as Wisdom Tree.
Coimbatore Cosmopolitan Club was founded in 1891 at Racecourse, Coimbatore. The 118 year old club has also absorbed the various schools of thought and practice with regard the administration of the club over the years and has emerged colourfully cosmopolitan under all circumstances. The thousands of members of the past and the present have been the pioneers behind the development of our great city. The development of Coimbatore was proposed and brought about by the Cosmopolitan minds of our club so much so that the growth of the city owes most of it to our members.

Read moreWent for dinner with some friends. Jad booked an AC cabin which accommodated atound 12 of us. Their lawns and seating area are well maintained. They also had a hige screen for screening matches. Food was decent. They didn't have many options for vegetarians, ordered paneer tikka anf masala peanuts which was not bad. Their ghee podi onion dosa was nice, reasonably priced too. For drinks they don't have any cocktails or mocktails, one can order bottled stuff (alcohol or cola).
