A Journey Through Mughal Flavors at Jahangir’s Legend has it that Jahangir Saab himself taught Karim Bhai (his nephew) the secrets of the trade, helping establish the famed Karim’s in Chandni Chowk. Intrigued by this rich history, I ventured into the heart of Old Delhi yesterday to experience firsthand the culinary magic that continues to draw crowds. Located at the busy crossing, the shop might not catch your eye at first, but the irresistible aroma wafting from the tandoors and grills will certainly guide you in. There’s no pretense here—no extravagant decor or flashy ambiance. The seating is simple, but make no mistake, this is fine dining at its best. Jahangir’s mastery is evident as soon as you take the first bite. Competing with global giants like KFC with his signature chicken wings, he also stands toe-to-toe with 7-star chefs, particularly when it comes to his exquisite kebabs. Whether you prefer khamiri roti, naan, or the soft rumali roti, there’s a perfect pairing for every dish, from the rich nihari to the smoky tandoori murgh. The food is a symphony of flavors, transporting you back to the Mughal era, with each bite more irresistible than the last. We began our feast with a plate of crispy fried chicken wings, served with a refreshing green chutney, which was a perfect start to the meal. Next, a steaming hot bowl of mutton nihari paired with khamiri roti arrived at our table, and it was nothing short of divine. The slow-cooked mutton melted in the mouth, and the spiced broth was a perfect complement. Finally, despite being quite full, we couldn’t leave without trying the famous Shammi Kebabs. Soft, delicate, and bursting with flavor, they were the epitome of culinary bliss. Each bite was like a glimpse into the past, where food was crafted with passion and precision. Jahangir’s isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a portal to a time of Mughal grandeur, where flavors were bold and hospitality was paramount. If you’re in Chandni Chowk, don’t miss this opportunity to indulge in one of Delhi’s finest dining experiences which comes at very reasonable prices.

My office is in Darya ganj and I love to visit new places for lunch wherever the lunch box doesn't come along from my home. So I was discussing with a friend who had been to Jahangeer and was all praises for this place. So today for lunch I ventured out as there was no lunch box today. Located on the main crossing(red light) of netaji subhash marg on the intersection of jama masjid Lane, where once the loha pul (iron walkover bridge) was situated , very close to mahavir vartika, Needless to mention it has almost no parking space. I personally went on a cycle rickshaw. First I couldn't locate the seating area, but upon asking I was guided to a nearby hidden stairway and on the first floor was their seating for about 25-26 people. The kitchen and bill section is in the ground floor. As soon I was seated a attendant approached with a menu card but I had already decided what I wanted to have, so I ordered a portion of fried chicken legs and half plate of Mutton seekh kebabs along with Fresh soft rumali roti's. Within no time the order of fried chicken legs along with rumalis was ready the seekh kebabs too a little time to prepare. Fried Chicken legs- three crisp fried succulent chicken legs(drums) almost a KFC style but much juicy and fresh and crunchy were served with some chat masala sprinkled on top. I have never had better fried chicken ever. Mutton Seekh kebabs were so tender that they would break with almost no or little effort. They were fresh and the juices were overflowing. The flavours were marvellous and they went along very well with the Rumalis. Service was quick and swift, the outlet was clean yet had some flys and small flying insects, the air conditioning was nice. Overall a great experience. Would visit them for the gravies next.

Mutton specialties at Jahangeer : Darya Ganj makes sure one has a great food experience by offering highly finger licking delicious non veg food. This place is synonymous with delicious food that can satiate all food cravings. It is home to some of the most appreciated cuisines. So as to be able to cater to a large number of diners, it occupies a favourable location at Darya Ganj. 5034,Opposite Mahavir Vatika,Netaji Subhash Marg,Darya Ganj-110002 is where one can visit the venue. Courtesy to this strategic location, foodies in and around the neighborhood can walk in to this eating house conveniently without facing any hassles related to commuting to this part of the city. It is one of the most sought after Mughlai Restaurants in Darya Ganj. I would like to give a special thanks to my friend Aasim Ahmed , who recommended this place and accompanied me for a dinner last thursday. > Address: 5034, Netaji Subhash Marg, Darya Ganj, Delhi - 110002, Opposite Mahavir Vatika. > Time: from 13:00 - 23:00 PM > Our choice with a 5 star ratings goes to Mutton Korma

Eid Mubarak 🌙 As today is the last day of Ramzaan, decided to visit Jama Maszid. 🕌 As a big festival, it was expected to be in complete rush. But, it was much beyond the expectation. Traffic Jams, no entry for cars entering into main lane, long waiting ques, full on dhakka mukki & on top of it useless honking (irritating) After waiting for half n hour, me & my friend dropped the idea to eat, but the craving was still there 😋 So, we thought to try ‘Jahangir Foods’ situated on opposite lane of main Jama Maszid entry. I had earlier heard about it & on zomato the rating says 4.1. We ordered: Mutton Seekh Kebab (did not click the pic) was not at all tasty & juicy. it was completely dry & full waste of money. Mutton Korma was cooked properly, soft in chewing & was fine in taste. Khamiri Roti & Rumali Roti was same as usual. Phirni was served chilled with appropriate amount of sugar & was ok in taste. Slow service, but the place maintains complete hygiene with polite staff 👍 All n all it was not a great dinner as the mood was😟

Ordered 2 half Lollipop Chicken, Half Mutton Nihari, Khamiri rotis and cold drink. Total bill came around Rs. 800. Price wise it's good for the quality of food they give. The Chicken Lollipop was awesome, the quantity they gave was adequate. I did not try Mutton Nihari before, so I thought to give it a try. Personally, I don't like to eat mutton, but the Nihari they gave was good. I was not satisfied with quality of Khamiri Roti, that was a little disappointment. It's not a big restaurant, a small one with 3 storeys. Ambience wise average and the staff service was good. At the end my experience was good, I would recommend to give it a try as it has good quality of food at affordable price. Nearest metro station is Jama Masjid. Exit from Gate No. 1. You can also try sweets in the Jama masjid area nearby, the local shopkeepers keeps good variety of sweet items, all homemade. Although I can't assure you about whether it's hygeinic or not as they keep it in open.

⭐⭐⭐⭐‼️Old Delhi style Gravy & Curries‼️ Jahangeer Foods Restaurant, located at the start of Jama Masjid Old Delhi road, offers a delightful culinary experience with its delicious gravies and curries. Each dish bursts with authentic flavors that leave a lasting impression. However, the starters could use some improvement to match the excellence of the main courses. While the food steals the show, the ambience falls a bit short of expectations. It could benefit from some enhancements to create a more inviting atmosphere for diners. One aspect to note is that the restaurant is not wheelchair-friendly, which may pose challenges for some patrons. Despite these minor drawbacks, Jahangeer Foods offers a reasonably priced dining experience that showcases the rich culinary heritage of Old Delhi.
