Kailash Colony is the place I always head to when I’m not in the mood for GK & Nehru Place’s hustle bustle. This time around we planned to visit Fatjar Café and Market which is right on the road and was very easy to find.
Fatjar’s ambience is very pleasing to the eyes and the light colours used makes it look very airy. The use of plants further makes this place look more beautiful. Most of the cooking is done in front of you with a semi open kitchen and their food fire oven looks amazing too. The products on display establishes the word “market” in the name perfectly. The varied seating options are very comfortable and a small outdoor seating is great for sunny winter lunches. The parking though is limited in front of the café.
We started our meal with some “Falafel & Pita” which had some moist falafels which were nicely fried and not at all oily. The pita breads were very fresh and so was the hummus. You could literally tell that that just after your first bite. The consistency of the hummus was noteworthy too. Next we ordered some humble “Truffle Fries” which were very crispy and a pinch of truffle to top them made them taste even better.
For the main course, we ordered a “Fussili Alfredo” which was very creamy and the pasta was cooked to perfection. The only thing they need to look at is that usually the pasta is supposed to be served along with a bread which they don’t. The highlight of our meal was simply their “Margherita Pizza” which had a brilliant base made out of the freshest dough you could think of. The cheese used to top the pizza looked very premium and the balance between the sauces and the cheese was tremendous too. The presentation deserves a special mention as it wasn’t the usual pizza stand they serve their pizza on but is more a raised steel stand which again was a nice touch.
To accompany our meal, we ordered a “Berries Shakes” which was very thick and was prepared using real berries instead of the preservatives filled syrups. Though the sweetness was a bit too low for our liking and a little more sweetness would have made that shake perfect.
We ended our meal with a “Frozen Yoghurt with Honey” which had two scoops of frozen yoghurt which had some ice crystals too and once you top it up with honey, the combination really does wonders to the taste.
The service was top notch and the stewards were very considerate about what we were ordering and didn’t shy away from recommending their favourites and also explaining the dishes on the menu.
Overall, Fatjar simply amazed us with its varied food options on the menu and its serene ambience. The place looked fantastic and is perfect for a romantic date or co working or if you are looking forward to a quiet and a...

Fat jar cafe is the best ever place to have the best ever margherita neopolitan pizza. It should definitely get an award for it, hands down.
The pillow crust and the soft yet crisp base with an authentic Italian style simple tomato sauce and good read very good quality buffalo mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese and basil leaves, baked to perfection in a stone oven. Man it was the best I’ve had in my life till date.
Next up favourite Came to be was the roasted chicken with roasted vegetables and jus- good lord, it was perfect, the moment I dug my fork in the chicken it Came falling apart. Soft juicy yet properly cooked, the jus with it was so so flavourful and those vegetables were aplenty and yumm.
Up next in sequence of favourite was the spaghetti in red pepper pesto with vegetables - it Came paired with a crisp buttery garlic bread. The spaghetti was al dante and the sauce was so so delicious. The bread was a treat in itself. I loved it.
Then the greedy souls wanted to have more so we had- the grilled fish with fennel and vegetables- it was very fresh and very light. Perfect for someone who’s a weight watchers yet wants the tastiest food. Really really good.
Also, I started my meal with a mushroom soup- I love mushrooms and I love soups but not the thick consistency ones. I like my soupy in light and thin consistency. It was just that.
This place has made me a fan of its food, like seriously I dreamt of eating it again the moment I reached home. Infact I wanted to eat another whole margherita pizza even after eating so much but my company made me realised that it’s my heart and not my tummy that wants It. It’s that good people.
Ambiance is really good, open, spacious, clean, and comfortable. The owner sits there mostly, and though he has his own way of talking but if you understand different style of personalities then it’s just his personality and he’s only trying to give the best experience to his coustmers.
I loved this place. Serious GOOD FOOD- the...
Read moreThe thing about FatJar Cafe that I had heard a LOT from quite a lot of my friends who are professional food-bloggers is that their pizzas are brilliant. So, ofcourse, me and a friend of mine did go ahead and tried their pizza and the sandwich as well.
But before I get into the details about the taste and overall experience, let me just say that the place does look and feel great with the staff being extremely well mannered and soft-spoken. They hear you out patiently & even suggest you stuff when and if you request them to.
Now, the food, though. The pizza had a distinct pungent smell (I believe of cheese). I am not 100% sure whether it was the cheese or whether it was something else, but it didn't really smell too good. So, after a couple of bites, neither of us could really eat anymore, as much as we were looking forward to the pizza. It looked brilliant, plating was wonderfully done but somehow the taste was completely opposite of what we had heard all these days.
The vegetarian sandwich though was good. Both of us enjoyed the sandwich and loved the overall feel and taste of it. The only gripe was that the wafers/ chips that we were served with the sandwich were a little damp to begin with and somehow tasted a little towards the sweeter side. Maybe that is the chips they serve with the sandwich there, but other than that, the sandwich was really nice, no doubt.
I also ordered a Cappuccino which was very nice. Loved the overall feel of the coffee; this is what I expected and that's precisely what I got when it came to the coffee. I was really satisfied with their Cappuccino.
Overall, I felt the place fell short on the value for money proposition. When you are paying in excess of 550 bucks for a pizza and almost 500 bucks for a sandwich, you expect it to be really good. But somewhere deep down inside, I left the place with mixed feelings. I didn't want to dislike the place or the food, but somehow I left a tad too dissatisfied...
