I want to share my experience of having dinner at Govinda's Restaurant in ISKCON Sant Nagar, East of Kailash, Delhi.
I usually visit the ISKCON temple with my wife and children, but on November 3, 2024, we went there to see the deity and afterwards, we thought of trying out Govinda's Restaurant as it was our first time. We sat at table number 19 and started off badly. The waiter did not come to take our order despite us calling him multiple times. We had to call him four times before he finally showed up. We ordered a veg chowmein without cabbage, but when he brought it, it had cabbage in it. When I asked him why he ignored our request, he just told me that it's not cabbage, but a Chinese vegetable.
After pointing this out, we thought that would be the end of it, but he didn't apologize or make any changes. Later, when we asked for extra sambhar vada, the same waiter ignored us and another waiter had to come and deliver it. He spoke to the second waiter in a rude manner, implying that we were free-loading and not paying for our food. The staff was extremely arrogant and showed poor manners. Even the table was not cleaned for 20-25 minutes, which is unacceptable.
I didn't say anything to the manager because we were with our child and I didn't want to create a scene. I just want to share my experience with all of you so that you don't make the same mistake. When you visit ISKCON Sant Nagar, please avoid eating at Govinda's Restaurant at all costs. It's a terrible experience and you will regret it.
I have seen that many people have written reviews about this restaurant, but the management doesn't care about their feedback. They prioritize foreigners over locals, giving them separate cutlery, which is a level of partiality that is unacceptable. So, if you do plan to visit, please...

Read moreFood is body. Service is #aatma. Food's good. Infact very good. But that's not why we'd go to an ISKCON's. We can get excellent food at many restaurants closer home. We go to an ISKCON's #bhojanalay because we revere the #PRASADAM of Govinda. That can come onlt if it is both partaken with reverence and served so. Unfortunately the service is very sub par: no smiles, no #SevaBhav, no punctuality, no eye contact and above all no vibrancy (waiters are zombies - they sleep walk and don't look enthused to do the service at all, zero motivation). This is what happens when you most likely outsource your main work - service. Ans they seem to use what look like leather seats! I went there yesterday night and post dinner I asked one of the glorified waiters (who wear Western attire!) whether such is the case. And thr response surprised me out of my wits and that's what led me to infer that the service is outsourced - they hadn't a clue. The waiter declared, thus: "Yes it is leather." and then he went to ask who seemed to be his boss and the manager and then surmised: "it could be rexine and not leather because this is a temple". I wish the service were as good as the food for the #aatma is more important than the body. The influence of #KaliYuga is...
