Hidden away in Sarai Julena, right opposite The Surya Hotel, is Malabar Restaurant — one of the few spots in the area repping authentic Kerala food.
We rolled in around 9 pm for dinner and went all in: Buff Roast, flaky Malabar Porottas, a spicy tuna fry, and their signature Malabar Chicken Biryani. The buff roast was 🔥 — rich, spicy, and full of flavor. Paired with those soft, fluffy porottas that literally melt in your mouth, it was a match made in heaven. The tuna fry, loaded with onions and green chillies, wasn’t exactly my thing but still had that bold, coastal punch.
The biryani? Cooked with short-grain jeerakashala rice, super aromatic, and the masala was on point — though I wish the chicken had soaked up a bit more of that magic.

We tried Parotta and Tomato fry, chicken 65, kerala style chicken biryani, papad and some sort of fish, all of it was very good. Definitely coming here again!❤️ My friend loved it too. Recommend the biryani, and Tomato fry.
