I recently visited Seoul Restaurant at Ansal Plaza with a friend who’s a big fan of Korean food. I’ve only ever tried instant ramen before, so this was my first proper Korean dining experience—and I must say, it was quite a memorable one!
We went on a Monday afternoon for lunch, so the place was almost empty, which turned out to be perfect. The staff gave us a private chamber, which was a great touch. It added to the calm, cozy vibe and gave us privacy to enjoy our meal in peace. The ambience was beautiful and fresh, with soft Korean music playing in the background. My friend loved it so much, she even started singing along, and I found myself enjoying the vibe more than I expected.
Now coming to the food. We tried several dishes—from sea food to soups and side dishes. The presentation was great, and the flavors were mild and clean. As someone who enjoys spicy food, I kept waiting for that spicy kick, but it never really came. One dish was specifically mentioned to be very spicy, but it turned out to be the mildest of all, with almost no flavor—just some salt and broth. That was a bit disappointing.
One small downside was the price of Soju—it was more than double the MRP plus VAT. But maybe that’s how liquor pricing works in such places.
Overall, I’d say it’s a great place to visit once for the experience, especially if you want a peaceful meal with good vibes and privacy. Just keep in mind—it’s not very...
Read moreI found this restaurant while browsing options for korean food in Delhi. It was relatively easy to locate as it's on the third floor of the mall near two fairly popular clubs. The ambience is really good with kpop playing in the background and kdrama on a tv (would have been better if it were MVs playing with music). They provide you with side dishes like the traditional kimchi, spring roll and bunch of other stuff. The menu had almost anything you've seen your favourite actors having for lunch in a drama. As expected the food was scrumptious and up to the mark with quantity. We ordered the most common things you'll see like tteokbokki, fried chicken and soju but I got the soju replaced with the makgeolli and boy it was the best decision I made. It was delicious with around the same ABV as soju so I did get tipsy after a few bowls (yes they provide bowls with rice wine). The jajangmyeon was sweet and savoury though a bit on the bitter side, the fried chicken was also amazing as they provide you with the glaze on the side so people who like it crispy and people who like it tossed in the sauce can both enjoy it. The service was good but a little slower than you'd expect with the number of empty seats. Overall we had fun. I'd recommend going for the fresh makgeolli over soju. Would definitely go again to try the...
Read moreUnfortunately the Restaurant changed owners and has been 'modernised'. The menu seems similar but it has lost its run down charm, my previous review below is therefore not applicable anymore, what a shame ;(
Review from early 2019 before the change of management: My go-to oasis in Delhi! I have lived several years in South Korea and have now been in Delhi for almost 4 years. The 'Seoul' restaurant is something very rare in Delhi: it's authentic (run by a Korean), down to earth, no boom boom music, not 20 waiters hovering around your table. It is not the 'dining experience that most Indians will want to have but for expats this is a real gem. Prices are not cheap but value for money is great. The restaurant in unassuming (no music, spare decoration) but that's the whole point of it. Many asian expats come here and it is the perfect place to escape Delhi when it all gets a bit too much. The restaurant is being renovated until August so I can only hope that it will keep the same low-key vibe that the regulars love. Fingers crossed. We shall find out when it re-opens in August 2019. PS: One aspect to improve would be to offer a wider range of beer brands. They only sell Kingfisher. PPS: this place is better than...
