Celebrating Oktoberfest at The Beer Cafe, Greater Kailash – A Tap to Table Experience
October has arrived, and with it, the excitement of Oktoberfest is already sweeping across Delhi. As a beer enthusiast, I couldn't resist the opportunity when I was invited to The Beer Cafe in Greater Kailash to experience their special Tap to Table menu. The evening promised an exploration of flavors, and it delivered on every front.
The event was expertly curated by Jose Flores, the Lead Innovation Brewer at Bira 91, who made sure we experienced a delightful journey through some of the best brews available this season. Here’s a breakdown of everything I tasted and enjoyed.
Estrella Damm
The Estrella Damm’s balanced flavor was a perfect start to the evening. Its refreshing, crisp taste paired wonderfully with Housefull Nachos and Fish Fingers, adding a light and enjoyable contrast to these classic appetizers.
Bira 91 Hefeweizen
One of my personal favorites, the Bira 91 Hefeweizen had a distinct clove and banana aroma with a hazy appearance. It complemented the Chilli Corn and Malai Chicken Tikka beautifully, balancing the spices and creamy textures with its smooth, slightly fruity taste.
Bira 91 Gold Strong
For those who enjoy a stronger brew, the Bira 91 Gold Strong was a delightful surprise. Its golden, stone fruit notes paired effortlessly with Chilli Fries and Chilli Chicken, enhancing the flavors and providing a bold, satisfying taste with every sip.
BrewDog Punk IPA
The BrewDog Punk IPA stood out with its intense hop character and fruity undertones. It paired exceptionally well with the Garden Fresh Pizza and Chicken Wings, balancing the richness and flavors of the dishes while adding a slightly bitter, piney finish.
Bira 91 Mango Lassi Ale
The Bira 91 Mango Lassi Ale was a unique addition to the lineup, offering a creamy, mango-infused experience. It paired brilliantly with the Classic Margherita Pizza and Chicken Bruschetta, adding a sweet, tropical twist that complemented the savory flavors.
Bira 91 White
Finally, the Bira 91 White provided a light, citrusy finish to the tasting session. Its low bitterness and spicy undertones were a perfect match for both the Veg Biryani and Chicken Biryani, making for a balanced and satisfying end to the tasting experience.
The evening was an absolute delight, not just because of the fantastic beers but also due to the care and passion that went into crafting this experience. Jose Flores did an incredible job guiding us through the flavors, ensuring we appreciated the unique character of each beer and how it paired with the food.
If you’re looking to get into the Oktoberfest spirit this month, I highly recommend heading over to The Beer Cafe in Greater Kailash and trying their Tap to Table menu. It's an experience that’ll take your taste buds on a flavorful journey, one...
Read moreWent there for drinks and dinner, ordered draft beer which took forever to be served, because they couldn't get the gas valve going to carbonate the beer. Food was really bad, chicken bruschetta was a glob of shredded chicken mixed in a slimy sauce served over bread which was cold. Ordered a mixed kebab platter, where some of the kebabs were undercooked. When we brought this to the attention of the server, he coolly picked out the pcs I had pointed at and brought them back after 15 mins saying now they were cooked. When confronted the Manager didn't think there was anything wrong in that. Chicken biryani was the worst if the lot, just veg pulao with couple of pcs of chicken thrown in. However the worst was yet to come as I decided to end the evening with a nice Single malt, ordered Bowmore from Islay region and they served me some cheap alternative from Highlands. I went over to the bar asked the manager to show me the bottle they had served me from, found the whole thing was adultetayad. Once again when confronted that they were serving spurious stuff while charging for the original stuff, the response was just a shrug. Never going back and would recommend people stay away...
Read moreThe place has a very jazzy ambience and you almost quickly feel at ease as soon as you enter the place. The quality of food served is very well taken care of and so is the aesthetics of the food served but the quantity is very less and that is not commensurate with the amount charged. It is not at all reasonable in that sense.
As far as the drinks are concerned, the menu exhibits a wide range of liquor but what they actually keep for a stock are the ones which are very highly priced. It is very strange but a low-priced pint costs ₹ 100-110 when bought directly from the market and costs ₹ 275 without taxes at The Beer Cafe. Almost 175% higher than the actual amount? Is there some kind of plundering going on in the Beer Cafe? How can you charge 175% more on a commodity irrespective of the ability of the consumer to pay for it or not? Are there no regulations of prices?
I'm highly disappointed by the experience at Beer Cafe. I can pay for it very well but I am still questioning the price mechanism because what I got is not worth the...
