I visited Roastery on a Wednesday morning for brunch. I had seen a lot of buzz online about this establishment, or heard from friends about other outlets they have.
The first thing that struck me was how proudly colourful it stood, framed against the monsoon fuelled green and blue. An immediate pleasure to the eyes, harking back to Pondicherry or Fontainhas in Panjim, Goa with their colourful architecture. Inside, it is spacious, with the seating spread out all around the central prep station. Some things I appreciated:
Ambiance - light atmosphere, no music, naturally lit, a thoughtful and tasteful design. Service - all the staff members were courteous and kind. The food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering. Two of the staff approached me separately after my meal, asking for my feedback. Extensive Menu - Besides the coffee they are known for, the food selection is varied and has something to suit most eating styles and flavour profiles. Work-friendly - Each table has power sockets placed next to them to charge your devices. One can come here and work too, however there is no wi-fi connection available. But the atmosphere is well suited to working.
Food: What I ordered: Chicken Sausage Omelette Platter and a Vietnamese Iced Coffee. The platter was pleasing in terms of taste, freshness of ingredients and quantity. The server was kind enough to provide extra baked beans when requested. The Vietnamese Iced Coffee could have been better, both in presentation and in taste. It appeared and tasted like cold coffee made with good coffee beans. But if you leave it for two minutes the water and the milk would separate.
Would I go there again: For sure. And not just the ambiance, but let's not judge a place on just two items from the menu.
Suggestions:
Please install wi-fi even if you charge extra for people wanting to work out of here. Install a ramp in the front to make this...
Read moreI am writing this review in the hope of reaching the management of this place. From someone who has come to this place a dozen times and started from liking this place, it has quickly gone down on my radar. And I will list down clear reasons about my review: Extremely limited menu: Being a place who opens in the morning hours, one would expect breakfast options. They as it is have only 3 listed vegetarian alternatives for their breakfast platters against 9 non vegetarian ones. Even within that, they dont have 1 of the 3 since past 6 months!
Snooty Service: Apart from 1 of their consistently good staff member (Soma),all of their staff is defensive, lost, and utterly disconnected. Now had this been just another road side joint, i would have come with different expectations. But if you are positioning yourself as a premium cafe, then you better start behaving like one.
I think these points should suffice as reasons for a disgruntled customer. If there was a break point with this place, its their approach to customer feedback - which is none in fact — as i have never once seen a floor manager running the place. With their staff always responding to our concerns (raised multiple times very amicably) as “upar se yahi ata hai” , it shows management’s insensitivity towards any sort of customer experience and that they have simply dumped money on infrastructure and they care least about delivering parallel quality. If things keep going this way, the day is not far when doors close on this place and it goes...
Read moreRoastery has become synonymous with good coffee. The Baristas know their job. This one is a new outlet opened on 24th Dec 2023 at Dwarka New Delhi. This one is the smallest of its all outlets elsewhere but the coffee and the food is of the same high quality as elsewhere. The staff are courteous helpful and know their job thoroughly. We were given to understand that the chain has transfer policy among its outlets and keep rotating staff for experience expertise and better service. The Aglio olio, juccinni fry, burnt cheese cake etc have become their signature dishes and oh so delectable. Flat bread pizza is also superb. You can have wide choice of coffee brewed fresh and suiting all tastes. Their fusions such as lychee, cranberry cascaras are worth trying besides the siphon, pour over and espresso shots. A winter evening is well spent in this joint and at walkable distance from home will be visiting often I may say. The only saddening note is that the outlet is much small and as shared, the smallest of all its outlets ( visited all of them in India the only one remains out of reach is at Finland ). Wish and hope that they acquire a larger space and also keeping in mind that Dwarka Delhi is the most hip and happening place nowadays with a large gentry of coffee and café aficionados who may swear by Roastery in...
