First Impression You wouldn't think much of the place when you drive by, since there's construction work for Metro in progress. But as soon as you enter the place, the grandeur hits you right in the face! The tall hanging roofs, the shiny black exteriors, the silently flowing water fountains, everything just oozes luxury - one can't help but think, what is life for, if not this! We leave the car keys with the valet, and head to the first floor, where the restaurant is.

Service As soon as we get out of the lift, we are greeted, very courteously, by the maitre d, who shows us to our table. He then leaves to get us the menus, and lets us know the specials - and seems overjoyed when we decide to go with the specials. Very courteously, he leaves us to ourselves, and goes along to start prepping our meal. Throughout the entire meals, the attendant and all the waiters behaved extremely well and gave us no chance to complain. The service, beyond a doubt was impeccable!

The ambiance As we came out of the list, we were taken aback by the high ceilings, and the posh-looking interiors. The decor is classy and you can think of just one thing when you look at the interiors - Orient. The decor goes very well with the name, the menu, and the theme of the restaurant. One thing, however, which I noticed is that the lighting is slight dim, but maybe it adds to the shadowy Chinese theme, which they are looking for. However, I must agree that the lighting does increase the visual appeal of the food that they serve, especially with the plates that they use for serving. Even the music playing in the background adds to the oriental/Chinese feel to the restaurant. Another thing which is noticed is that the restaurant may seem quite small in the first glance, although, as we looked around, we noticed that it is huge, with a seating capability of easily over a hundred to a hundred and fifty people. Food Waitan cooler The waitan cooler is as close to that perfect drink for relaxation that you'd ever get in a dry state. Hot & sour chicken soup with bamboo shoot The soup wasn't as I'd expected it to be - I'd expected soup more like a stock, but this was a heavy soup. Steamed Lamb dumpling The lamb inside the dumpling was tender and succulent, making the dumpling juicy - it was more like an explosion of flavors in the mouth! Chicken Garlic Chive Dumpling Although quite, good, the chicken dumpling could not match up to the standards that the lamb dumpling had set! Fried Chicken with Sichuan Pepper, Nuts, and Spring Onion The fried chicken was quite good, although, I'd have loved it even more had it been spicier. Dongu prawns with fried garlic and onions As with the lamb dumplings, even the prawns were extremely delicious. They were tender, succulent, and juicy, and the sauce in which they were cooked was extremely delicious. Kung Pao Chicken with with ginger, Chinese vinegar, Cashew and Peanuts As with Chicken dumplings, even the Kung Pao chicken was overshadowed by the Dongu Prawns. Roasted Pork with Bell Peppers and Homemade Chili Bean Sauce I could never imagine roasted pork being so soft and juicy, and yet - to my surprise, this roasted pork superseded all my expectations! Local Lamb Shank Hot Pot with fragrant Coriander buns Each dish that they served seemed to top the previous ones, and so was this - think sliced lamb shanks and pok choy along with flat wheat noodles cooked in a delicious broth, and served as a hot pot. Fried Noodles with Chicken, Bell Peppers, Spring Onion, and Bean Sprouts The noodles were well cooked and not at all dry. Caramel Rocher bar The caramel rocher bar looked more like a bar of chocolate served with caramel sauce on the side. Mango coconut cream brûlée The mango coconut creme brulee was also great, but since I didn't quite like the mixed flavor of mango and coconut. Chocolate mousse After the main course, the desserts did seem a little out of place - I was hoping for some Chinese...

(update) (to old staff that was there in the opening of Chinese: I love you guys, the old original China House team from the opening times and we all miss you a lot. I have a lot of memories here but sadly few of them are not so good now. Hope to meet u guys altogether again if i at all get that luck.)

To whom it may concern,

This current rating is done regarding a visit a while ago. Being a regular customer i am sad to see the restaurant business going up but service quality going down. I have been visiting China house the fifth or sixth time since their opening and im upset to see that the whole teams has been shifted into different other sessions. All that is left is one nice guy who remembered us. Others are cold faces who hardly cared about our needs. We had come to China House expecting that it would be a quiet place for us to have dinner as it usually has less customers on weekdays. That day the place was filled with good amount of people so we have requested to get a table away from the crowd so that we get some privacy. First the stewardess rewuested that we wait and she will ask for permission. She came back with a refusal saying that the session on the other side is closed. So in disappointment we have requested just to keep the AC slower becos Boo was not keeping so well. She said that she will reduce it. 5mins later with customers sitting in around us, which made the whole place real noisy, she came back to serve other customer in the table next to us, we didnt figure that there was a big change in the AC so we asked and she replied saying that she did it alrdy, which we cant say anything becos we dont wna look like we are too demanding. We started deciding what to eat and here comes a steward in a suit asking us for our order. When asked questions regarding the japanese menu, he clearly have no idea of what is being served and had to check it up several times with the kitchen. I have no problem with that. But the idea of him expecting that i shud be able to decide right after him giving me unclear information was quite wrong to me. He said coldly but professionally if i am going to take time deciding then he will first take someone elses orders. We are like 'um ok'. So he went off and used a very different tone and spend a lot of time taking some other big business class foreigner customers with their order, patiently and warmly, the difference was clear. I guess cos we were in casuals and they were in formals? That only he would have known. The only thing that had saved this review from being a zero was that half way waiting, one of the stewards who recognises us showed up and greeted. So we flooded him with our needs and he fulfilled all of them without a single question!!!!! The seating area, the AC in that EMPTY sitting area, water, small snack starters, EVERYTHING. Without a question! We told him how different the whole place has become and how much changes have been done regarding the service standards and staff arrangements. He was very apologetic and had really brought us back to heaven from hell. For this passionate staff of yours i would love to give you guys a FIVE STAR rating cos he really saved the whole restaurant cos this is one of the few places which i get to cure my home sick with nice people and service and food. However, im giving a TWO to raise awareness to the management about how new staffs are ruining customers' experience over here. I hope the management would instead of only putting all the best people to develop and settle new places, please also put efforts in replacing them with same passionate and well-mannered staffs in order to maintain the service quality you had from the beginning till the end. If not then at least train them...

The Luxurious Pan-Asian Delights at China House, Hyatt Regency Ahmedabad

Nestled within the esteemed Hyatt Regency Ahmedabad, China House emerges as a culinary gem, offering a tantalizing journey into the heart of Pan-Asian cuisine, with a special emphasis on Chinese delicacies. My recent visit to this distinguished restaurant left an indelible mark, as I reveled in the culinary excellence, lavish ambiance, and top-notch service that defines China House.

As I crossed the threshold, the sight of the restaurant's numerous awards at the entrance set the stage for an exceptional dining experience. Each accolade stands as a testament to the restaurant's unwavering commitment to culinary brilliance, solidifying its position as the hotel's most decorated dining venue.

Positioned on the second floor, China House boasts an exclusive lift from the ground floor, underscoring its exclusivity and refined character. Stepping into the thoughtfully designed seating area, I found myself immersed in an ambiance of sophistication and opulence. The meticulous selection of interiors and the exquisite cutlery work in harmony to transport guests to the heart of a traditional Chinese dining experience.

A defining feature that sets China House apart is its open kitchen concept. As I observed the chefs in action, I was not only treated to a visual feast of culinary expertise, but I was equally impressed by the spotless and hygienic conditions of the kitchen. Amidst the bustling activity, the kitchen's impeccable organization and cleanliness underscored the restaurant's dedication to creating a pristine dining environment.

The gracious and attentive staff added an extra layer of charm to the China House experience. Their warm welcome and efficient service ensured that every detail of the dining affair was executed with care and professionalism, enhancing the overall sense of luxury that characterizes the restaurant.

While the menu prices fall within the moderate range, they align seamlessly with the expectations of a premium 5-star establishment. The cost is justified by the sumptuous flavors and meticulous presentation that define each dish. With each bite, I embarked on a culinary voyage that transported me through the rich tapestry of Pan-Asian gastronomy.

In summation, China House at Hyatt Regency Ahmedabad presents a symphony of exquisite Pan-Asian cuisine, opulent surroundings, and impeccable service. From the array of awards adorning the entrance to the immaculate open kitchen and the attentive staff, every facet harmonizes to deliver a dining experience that transcends the ordinary. For those in pursuit of a dining escapade that seamlessly marries luxury with authentic flavors, China House unquestionably emerges as a destination that surpasses all...

Welcome to China House Ahmedabad Booked on Swiggy for 1 for 10:15 pm, reached the restaurant at 9:55 pm spoke to guy on the desk at the entrance informing him about my reservation for 10:15 and get told that there is no such reservation and they have stopped taking Swiggy Dineout reservations so had to show him that I have paid a small few for ₹25 for the reservation so he let’s me in and just like that the restaurant which seemed shut opens up and get sat and given the menu. Kitchen doors left open by staff who are laying the covers for the nest day and I can hear the whole kitchen talk and the noise from it. Lucky for the restaurant they let me in after almost telling me they were shut when I arrived and now they have another table for 4 covers to feed which is at 10:30. Eat my food and I pay my Bill and leave. Food was great which made up for all the confusion at the entrance and the noise from the kitchen.( guess my arrival made them restart for that night as they almost seemed shut) Overall satisfied with the food and service Would I visit again? Only if I’m staying at the Hyatt i would get down to eat here won’t be travelling for 1.5kms like this time.

This was our second visit to China House and to be honest other than the Noodles and the Soup, food was not very impressive. We were there for lunch and the setup felt quite nice and cozy. Their service was also good. We ordered Hot and Sour Chicken Soup: The soup was very well balanced. Perfect texture and consistency with soothing flavours. A must try. Crystal Chicken Dimsum: Their appearance was very appealing but somewhat lacked flavours. Lamb Open Bao: Very very average taste. Nothing special to mention Schezwan Chicken Open Bao: Better than the lamb bao but not worth trying again or recommending. Fried Chicken Noodles: this was definitely the star of the show. It looked as good as it tasted. There was a crunch from the veggies and wonderful flavours from the chicken and egg tossed perfectly with the noodles. Definitely a must try.
