Surkhi Cafe and Social - A Culinary Delight!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Surkhi Cafe and Social, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience! From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the amazing vibe and ambiance of the place. The decor is chic and cozy, making it a perfect spot for both casual hangouts and special occasions.
Food: The food at Surkhi Cafe and Social is nothing short of spectacular. We ordered a variety of dishes, and each one was a culinary masterpiece. Here's a rundown of what we tried:
Chickpea Pesto Salad: Fresh, flavorful, and a great start to our meal. Loaded Nachos: Crispy, cheesy, and generously topped with all the right ingredients. Musty Mushroom Pasta: This white sauce pasta was creamy and delicious, with perfectly cooked mushrooms. Creamy Mushroom Sandwich in Tiger Bun: A delightful sandwich with a unique twist, the tiger bun added a nice texture. The Veggie Volcano Pizza: Bursting with flavors, this pizza was loaded with fresh veggies and had a perfect crust. Veggie Lasagne: Layers of goodness, rich in taste and perfectly baked. Surkhi Special Paneer Masala with Paratha: A must-try! The paneer was soft and the masala was rich and flavorful, paired perfectly with the paratha. Classic Cold Coffee: Refreshing and just the right amount of sweetness. Hot Chocolate: Warm, rich, and comforting. Orange Mint Mojito: A refreshing drink with a perfect balance of citrus and mint.
Everything we ordered was super delicious and worth every penny. My personal favorites were the pizza and the burger, but honestly, every dish was exceptional.
Service: The service at Surkhi Cafe and Social was top-notch. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations. The owner was very welcoming, adding a personal touch to our dining experience.
Overall Experience: Surkhi Cafe and Social is a gem of a place. The combination of amazing food, great ambiance, and excellent service makes it a must-visit. Whether you're a foodie looking to try something new or just want a cozy place to relax with friends, Surkhi Cafe and Social is the place to be. I can't wait to go back and try more of their...
Read moreThere are certain places that begs for your attention and that attention could be for any of the following: Their food / their ambiance / their menu / some quirks - like their serving style such as Turkish ice creams or fire shots or their banter on their walls like SodaBottleOpenerWala et al. Surkhi Café for me falls in the category of ambiance. Thick brick walled ambiance making it a cave-like place had my attention from the word go.
My limited trial with their food had been really good barring their Jamun Cooler & Coconut Cold Brew because the coffee was neither cold as it should be nor it had coconut flavour in it. Sadly, their Jamun cooler tasted more like Kala Khatta than the pulpy Jamun we were expecting.
Their classic Margherita Pizza, though not the best, was done satisfactorily. Their Mezze included Pita Breads, Falafel, Cut Veggies, Hummus, Muhammara and Tzatziki. Store bought Pita bread always is a dampener for me and apart from a few restaurants, no restaurant makes it fresh. Also, since Mediterranean is not their specialty cuisine, I understand making Pita in-house can be challenging. My understanding lies with the restaurants but it also does not make me elated. Falafel, Tzatziki and Hummus were managed well
What did stood out was their Ultimate Avocado Toast. Perfectly seasoned avocados with tomatoes, onions and a squeeze of lemon made it the best. Thumbs up for their Avo toast.
The ambiance is done very nicely as I mentioned, their chairs are uncomfortable for a long unwinding session. The acoustics of the place too, is loud. May be it is the brick walls, may be the tables are places too close to each other. But if you are looking for a quiet, intimate meal it will be difficult. Their outdoor seating, during summers will not offer breeze but winter is the perfect season to throng the rooftop.
Surkhi is not just a café but it also hosts social events and has a good setup for a co-working space. Some specially curated menus, pop-ups will do wonders for a place...
Read moreHaving heard numerous positive reviews about this establishment, I decided to visit with my family last week. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating options; given the heat outside, we opted for the indoor area. The ambiance is upscale, with brick columns that contribute to a premium feel. However, as the restaurant filled up, the initially pleasant atmosphere became quite overwhelming. The noise level increased significantly, making it difficult for us to converse. It appeared that the design did not effectively absorb sound, and the proximity of the tables allowed for overlapping conversations from neighbouring guests. Additionally, the arrangement of thick pillars and decorative artifacts limited the space, resulting in a crowded environment. We also noticed that the tables seemed more suited for couples, making it challenging to accommodate a group of five comfortably, especially when trying to enjoy board games alongside our meals. Regarding the food, we sampled the following dishes: Mexican Hot Pot: Flavourful but disappointingly small in portion for the price of 7575. Pesto Pizza: Rich in flavour, yet at 7510, the size was only about 9 inches. Loaded Nachos: We ordered the "Less Spicy" option, but the nachos were still quite spicy. When we inquired with the server, we learned that the salsa is inherently spicy, which raised questions about the menu's labelling of spice levels. Unfortunately, we had to return this dish. On a positive note, the restaurant has effectively segregated its Jain menu, which we appreciated initially. However, upon exploring the options, we found that many dishes were pesto-based. After already trying the Pesto Pizza, our choices were limited as spaghetti and creamy pasta also had pesto in it. Overall, we had high expectations for our visit, but unfortunately, the experience did not align with the quality we anticipated, especially considering the pricing...
