Had heard a lot about Ustad Miyaa, but when we visited it three weeks ago, we ordered Chicken Malai Tikka, they came almost raw and pink from inside, sent them back, again they were served undercooked, so we returned them almost untouched. The paneer tikka and cheese naan were good though. And the person at the counter was decent enough to not charge for the chicken.
Tonight after trying a few places that turned us away saying they were closed (it was 11 pm), we took a chance with Ustad Miyaa again.
Ordered Chicken Shikari Kabab, which were cooked well, tender inside with slightly burnt edges, the way I'd requested. Had also ordered Dal lehsuni tadka, steamed rice and a crisp tandoori roti, but had forgotten to mention that everything should be served together, so had to wait quite some time for the rest of the things, which was a little turn off. I must say that when it all came, it was worth the wait. The rice (microwaved) was hot, the roti nice and crisp (I think it was wheat flour and not maida/all purpose flour), but the Dal was the star! Perfect consistency, piping hot, and so very flavorful! Though Ustad Miyaa is famous for naans and kababs, I'd suggest everyone to try Dal and rice! The salad (onion rings and cabbage) was served only upon asking, and was so unsightly. It LOOKED LIKE onions were not peeled properly, and neither were washed
Now about the place and hygiene Its out in open, and the tag line does mention 'urban dhaba', but still, with the clientele they have, the kind of money they must be making, they can surely make an effort to give the customer a little more value. The refrigerator, right in view, is so dirty 🙁 The servers are not well trained, and pretty unkempt Food is served in melamine plates There were no bowls for Dal, and disposable containers were given instead There weren't any serving spoons for Dal and rice, and the spoons given for eating were all mismatched The kitchen looks messy and unclean They can also try to give a better facility to wash hands, instead of the makeshift stainless steel basin put up in corner.
My saying all this is not going to change their regular client's mind, or make them change their ways, but if you are particular about hygiene, presentation, then this may not be the place for you. But if you want the taste, then be prepared to turn a blind eye.
We were grateful for the meal we got at the late hour!
Ps: Please excuse the pictures I decided to review halfway through the meal, and that's when I remembered to...
Read moreYesterday was my Bday and thought to try this restaurant considering rating of 4 star! -1st impression was quite shocking! Was having impression that it is road side but location is in side old age buildings (Looks like road side dhaba)! But quite shocking that many families were eating there. Inside table service was there but we preferred terrace by considering low light which has been provided as wrong decision by suffering from lots of mosquitoes at last🤬. -Veg and Non-veg both options were available but rate card is similar to Mirch masala i.e. high price (Mirch masala atleast have cosy atmosphere and good service). Here We tried their famous chicken naan, chicken angra, dry shrimp 🦐 and in Veg cheese garlic naan, Mix veg in gravy and tandoori roti! Asked to cook shrimp and gravy low spicy! But shrimp came spicy! -Chicken cheese naan tasted like i am eating boneless paratha but Cheese garlic naan was awful (Was expecting paratha with Cheese but it came with lots of half cooked onion and capsicums! Yukkkh). Chicken angra was spicy (They toasted it with chilly flakes) enough which is ok to consider! Shrimps were good but again spicy! Mix veg and tandoori roti were good! -Lastly I paid 2200+ Rs via Online payment! Annoying thing was that they have kept paytm machine with speaker which loudly announcing your paid amount and people sitting around are looking at you). Staff is also playing the speaker once again to confirm payment. Stupidly and unprofessional behaviour). -Overall not so good experience after paying 2k+ for a restaurant which is neither having good food options nor having good ambience! Not really sure that how people are considering this place as best or must visit place for non veg (They are stating them selfs as Urban dhaba! Its actually a high price dhaba but regal is better option or mirch masala) for me its unhygienic place (Wash room was also far from their restaurant...
Read moreSupposed to be a non veg speciality restaurant. Pretty pathetic food to be honest. Waiter response was cold and it felt as if we were a waste of his precious time. Ordered 3 starters and all were labelled best sellers and to be honest all tasted same. Taste was bland and the shikari murgh starter felt over smoked and not cooked properly. Felt dejected and refrained from main course and decided on ordering a biryani as who would get it wrong???? Guess we were wrong, biryani was even bland than the starter and the piece cold and rubbery not really worth the Rs 500 price tag 🥲. The raitha was good though and masala chaas was good too. Ambience doable. Pretty expensive for such pathetic food, definitely not...
