NOT RECOMMENDED IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR FRESH (FISH) AND AUTHENTIC BENGALI DISHES!
Had ordered for 1) Pabda fish with begun borir jhol. 2) Pabda fish shorshe.
1)THE FISHES WERE NOT ONLY STALE BUT UNCOOKED!!
The Fish curry with shorshe did not have any potato pieces.
The Borir jhol was spicy and inedible . Despite calling them and instructing before order was placed, our child couldn't eat and when we tasted it it was super spicy. ( I love spicy food and could vouch for the amount of red chillie powder was floating in the oil ).
One need to train those 'chefs', that in this particular dish of begun borir jhol, the boris need to be fried perfectly ( failure ) and the ' begun' pieces are from the small round or the small long thin ones, with just a slit cut into halves, not the usual begun bhaja semi circle pieces from any begun ( brinjal ).
I want to address the issue to the OWNER and the MANAGER OF BIJOLI GRILL.
You are overtly priced considering the quality and quantity you serve. Serving stale protein, if this was abroad, one notice and your buisness would be shut down. Saikat, as he says his name was, the person who took my complaints / feedback, says he has no clue who cooked or sent the stake uncooked fishes, or they don't go and get their own vegetables ( WOW? )
It is appalling that hailing from Bengal, you dared to put out such non-standard and STALE food and service at such a hefty price!! We ( authentic ethnic Bengalis ) cook delicacies at home, DAILY and feed scores at any given point of time, hailing from any economic background.
If you are calling yourselves authentic then MY ADVICE WOULD BE TO SHUT YOUR BUSINESS RIGHT AWAY.
THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME WE HAVE HAD SUCH SOUR ( LITERALLY ) EXPERIENCE. ( GOT CHEATED WHEN ORDERED FOR KOBIRAJI AND OTHER DISHES )
Now , Saikat asked me what he could do to make it up. I don't think you guys have the standard to make it up to customers who have rich pallate for cuisines. He says- "pls order for some sweets and we will send you a plate of the fish cooked again?!" Is that how you compensate?
Nothing has reached us, been over 2 hours of your promise ( or whatever you wanted to offer ?! )
LAST BUT NOT THE LEAST, I HAVE KEPT MY PROMISE OF SENDING YOU BACK THE STALE FISH HEADS THAT YOU WERE TO PICK UP. It has no bearing on us.
So my fellow foodies, want to taste authentic and fresh Bengali dishes? DO NOT ORDER FROM BIJOLI GRILL , GOOD EARTH. VERY DISAPPOINTING AND...
Read moreThe occasion was my birthday, the 31st of December. I was so craving for Bangla food so gave Bijoli Grill Outlet in Good Earth City Center in Gurgaon a try.
LOCATION: It's located in the Good Earth City Center easily navigatable using GPS.
FOOD: Overall we loved the food and everything that we tried were properly cooked and simply yummy!
• Fish Finger - It was crispy outer with yummy fish filling. The mustard sauce (Kasundi) they use is really of great quality. • Radhavallabi and Aalu Dam Combo : It's Bangla style Daal-puri it tastes really good with Aalu dum and they made it well. • Muri Ghonto (Fish head with veggies like cabbage)- You must try it, it was tasty never knew cabbage can be so tasty as well. • Bhetki Fish Paturi (Deboned Bhetki Fish marinated with mustard paste, chillies wrapped in banana leaf and steamed) - Waah! This was my favourite. • Daab Chingri (Creamy Prawns in coconut gravy and served in whole green coconut ) - 100 points for the presentation and it was on the sweeter side as it has cashews etc. It's good to have with rice. • Murgir Jhol (Chicken curry Bangla Style)- You can either have it with rice or parathas. Desserts: Nolen Gurer Rosogollar Payas - This was ultimate- won my hearts!
(We were 4 people, I didn't eat all of it alone :-D )
AMBIANCE: It's a cosy place with seating available on two levels. The ambience is fair nothing extraordinary.
COST : The Cost was pretty much reasonable. After having all this we had to shell out around 3K and we couldn't finish the Chicken lol it was too much :-D
SERVICE : A big hands of applause to Akash. Akash greeted us all with a friendly smile, the service he provided was first class. He is also knowledgable about the items on the menu and helped us choose the right food and we loved all of it. He truly is a credit to your restaurant and he fully epitomises what 5-star service is all about.
PARKING: There's managed parking space, so that's something we needn't worry about.
VERDICT: Enjoyed my birthday Lunch with my family. It's definitely a good place for...
Read moreDisappointing Poila Boisakh Dinner Experience
We chose to dine out on Poila Boisakh and opted for a buffet priced at ₹1499, which promised a range of 25-30 items. However, the experience turned out to be quite underwhelming.
To begin with, the food was served at the table rather than being displayed buffet-style, which took away from the typical buffet experience. The ambience felt more like a local eatery and lacked the warmth or refinement one would expect for a festive dinner at this price point.
Coming to the food – every item we tried was below average in taste. Signature dishes like Malai Prawn and Padba Bhetki were especially disappointing, lacking freshness and flavor. Overall, the food quality resembled that of a basic caterer, not a reputed restaurant. I have enjoyed meals at Bijoli Grill before, and while their pricing has always been on the higher side, the quality usually made up for it – sadly, not this time.
Moreover, the claim of offering 25-30 varieties seems more like a gimmick to justify the cost. Realistically, a regular diner can only try 5-6 items meaningfully. The wide spread ended up being excessive and impractical, especially when the quality didn’t match up.
All in all, it was a disheartening experience – not only did we feel it was a waste of money, but it also affected the festive mood of the evening. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and improves both its food quality and...
