We have known and been this korean restaurant since it was at the ground floor next to “Kuraku”. And we are Japanese and Singaporean. We visited Korea many times and we know what this is.
When we entered the restaurant, nobody attended us although we call. we need to look for a worker then found in one of the rooms which was given for customers. We asked if they are open. They said they are open.
We ordered grilled meat with lettuce to roll, fried glass noodle and rice.
first, they skipped the process of heating the sizzler so the onions that lay under meats were cold and raw. The meats became cold too quickly. We have always ordered grilled meats and we know they heat up the sizzler pan as hot as the sliced onions are naturally cooked and edible with meats. this was the first time it came uncooked. (We know they never intentionally cook onion but this raw onion prove the point they served the sizzler cold.)
secondly, the bowl of rice was utterly terrible condition. It was like rice paste. Korean&Japanese rice are stickier than basmati& thai. But the rice was cooked with waaay too much water and kept too long before served.
Thirdly, this is korean restaurant. But they did not have Kimchi. I asked but they did not have it. Unbelievable. They had only onion kimchi…. Yes this is one of kimchi but it is different one. Every korean restaurant should have kimchi. I have never heard such a failure.
Fourthly, the female manager is incompetent that she did not understand what was happening. She even tried to excuse. She did not handle the situation at all, but just got quiet in the end. No sense of responsibility. They all behave like school kids that 5-6 girls were hanging around and done nothing. Just did not know what to do… We did not shut or threaten them which some people do. We quietly conveyed these points that they need to improve service quality. But did not receive any professional response.
Fifthly, the watermelon which they give before billing, was half rotten. It looked ok but it tasted odd and sour. I am not telling this because i had bad experience. We really liked their watermelon (or other fruits) service (most korean restaurants do this compliment.) because it amazingly refreshes our mouth. Even this one is no more.
It is very sad to see our favourite restaurant has gradually lost its goodness in front of our eyes. It used to be so vibrant, busy and great food. Dinner may be still good (which we know because we come sometime) but we will not return...
Read moreMy kids and wife took me to Miso for the fathers day celebration for dinner. Miso is located on the second floor of Global Foyer Mall . We had reserved our table through google prior to arriving.
Miso has private dining rooms and we were offered one immediately after entering the restaurant. One funny thing we observed was that glasses for water were all different types. Was strange that cutlery of a restaurant was not uniform.
We ordered samgyeupsal , sweet and sour chicken , tuna kimbab for starters. Also ordered a bottle of soju . I love how korean restaurants serve banchan to munch along with food. The kimchi and pancake served as part of banchan was great. Samgyeupsal came with fresh greens , you have to make a pancake of greens with the meat and condiments and eat it. So healthy and fresh. The chicken was great too, tasted like orange chicken we had in usa. We also ordered chicken dolsot bibimbap and it was served with kimchi soup. Both items were great, kimchi soup had a lot of kick . Finally they served complimentary fresh honey melons and mandarins at the end of the meal. The ambience of the place is good and the staff polite . Loved our fathers day meal at...
Read moreTucked away on the second floor, I only recently discovered Miso while looking for Korean food.
Tried the Kongguksu and Mandu guk, accompanied by cool, refreshing fermented beverage callled makgeolli. The kongguksu is chilled and light, with a creamy broth, perfect for a hot summer day. The Mandu guk was packed with veggies and dumplings, and the broth had a nice seaweed flavour. The variety of banchan was a little less compared to other Korean restaurants in the area, but they were all delicious!
The portion sizes are generous, so even with the prices, it is good value. You will definitely leave with a full tummy.
Only wish they had...
